Hey all. I've been a deejay in the EDM scene for quite a few years. I put this demo together a while ago using only records (they still exists). This is a 48 minute unedited demo of a live set I performed in the past. It's my favorite out of anything I've recorded to date. The mix get's progressively "darker" until going crazy at the end. It has a sci-fi/supernatural mood to it. It would be categorized as psychedelic. :evil2: I recommend headphones or a loud stereo to get the full effect of all the sounds that pan in and out.

So let me know what you think.

I realize not all of you will like this style of music, but if you're gonna flame it at least listen to the whole thing first. Enjoy!

I DL'd your Litmus cut and enjoyed a quick sampling just jumping through it; I think I like the "dark" last part more than the beginning buildup, but I'll listen through the whole thing tonight ...it seems sort of a combination of purple haze induced flashbacks on top of 2001 Space Odyssey and ...dare I say the "D" word = disco. Some here would have you believe I almost invented disco, but that's just a rumor. I find EDM occasionally entertaining but never gave it a serious study/listen and dancing is not my forte unless I've had too much to drink and then I really get into my personal version of avante-guard free lance jazz dancing, as I call it. Some just say I'm "spazin' out".

Some EDM gives me flashbacks to the 1960's. One of my favorite radio station has always been, and still is, WXPN in Philadelphia, the radio station of the University of PA that now has a major presence on Philly airwaves. Some of their shows have been nationally cindicated. There's a show on XPN that I listened to back in the drug crazed '60's and 70's that is still on and I still like listening to what they play. I think it started out with John Diliberto on XPN doing his Diaspar show, then it grew into Star's End, and now his show is nationally cindicated, I still listen to it ...freaky! ;)

TechnoSupra, you might be familiar with some of their playlist:

I listened to a few minutes of it ...I can tell you for sure I like it. I'll go back and check out the whole piece tomorrow, I'll dl it while I work and listen around lunch time. During the first few minutes I really liked the driving rhythm and changes, I guess I can relate to acid driven psych stuff since I'm an old head ....I was 20yo in 1969. If I didn't have to deal with my kids bedtime now, I'd listen to the whole thing now. You got talent.

I listened to it as well. It wasn't bad. I know i wouldn't have a clue how to do it. I'd like to hear you build something that had some really dirty heavy metal guitar. Kind of like a cross between rage against the machine and your techno mixed. It seemed to me like it was missing something, but it sounded well rounded and I can't quite put my finger on it. I guess it could be me without the E, lol.

About half way in to the exothermic mix there's some heavy guitar riffs from track 6 to the end along with some rock/metal influenced vocals. Did you make it that far when listening?

I had it playing on my pc while I did a few things to catch up.
So I probably lost it in my thought process along the way.

I'll listen to it again. I need to get it on a cd. It would be good to have in the garage while working.

Next up is going to be an ambient, chilled out psychedelic mix. Something with a lot of tribal sounds, atmospheric synths, and slower grooves. I have a few things in mind, but nothing arranged yet. I'll probably get started after I watch the Red Wings :eusa_danc hand Anaheim their asses.

It's either that or a disco-house mix...yes....I said it, disco.

Disco mixed would be cool, IMO.

And no way the ducks go down, lol.
Unless the other team brings a hurd of labradors.

I'm just talking smack dude.

The mix is a little old, but I finally decided to post it. LMK what you think.

Dirty Acid Mix (http://www.xstreamist.com/litmus)

I'm still working on the other ones...should be up by this Sunday.

hi diz, welcome back

...though you were never gone out of our minds, not to mention that we are out of our minds I'm sure. Mike and I "OWN" this place ;) so be nice to us or else. Don't ask "or else what?" or we'll have to make something up and who knows where that'll go.

So anything cool on this chick's laptop that you can share with us? Being I'm getting so old, as diz occasionally reminds me, just saying "laptop" and "chick" in the same sentence sends twangs into my magic froggy.

PS: Now excuse me for a moment, I have to go ban some more spammers. Hey, maybe I should make a poll:

should we permanently ban porn spammers or not? Or maybe we can hire a bounty hunter to track them down and eliminate them? I just voted and the results are unanimous.

06-07-2007, 12:48 PM
I think if guys post pictures from a car show, and there happens to be chicks in. That's ok. But the spammers must go. And yes banned them for life.

These people make shit wages to sit in a cubicle and see how many forums they can sign up on to get there messages out there.

So my vote is banned for life.

Ban 'em!

oh, and there's a new jungle/d&b mix added. It's temporary until I remix a longer set...over an hour. I also added an original tribal/house track I made a while back on the Reason software.

keep the good vibes coming. Thanks.

You aren't writting lyrics to this stuff are ya Nick???

I had this idea of mine for a track. Like to hear it here it goes:
Buzz woosh woosh beep beep woosh buuuzzzz. Dig that $hit like a grave, lol.
Heavy man totally tubular in a rad / bitchn kinda way bro.

Obviously I'm kidding.

Well I gotta say I havent been a huge fan of techno, least of all trance, but I grabbed that first MP3 at the top and its pretty good. Like I saw posted above, it really would be good garage work music :)

For driving though, I seen to drift towards either classic rock or some things from "nu-metal". I like a slower pace music thats heavy and hard-hitting powerful.

This is good stuff though, I've only heard the first one so I'm sure there will be stuff on here that I dont just like but really really like.

Keep up the good work :)
