I was looking at some jdm motors and I see that they have a 2 bolt main cap. What kind of power handling do these have? More clamping force the better, but I just wanted to know what kind of power one could expect to run without blowing the whole bottom end through the oilpan.

Many people are running in excess of 600HP maybe more on stock mains. You can upgrade to billet mains if you are going to run more than 900hp maybe but they are still 2 bolt mains. Look into upgrading into ARP studs also. HTH.

Main Bearing Caps. All rotating parts must interlink with round bores of some kind. The crankshaft has round areas machined into it where the connecting rod connects to. It also has an area (4?) that is machined to where the crankshaft bolts into the block. Those are the polished surfaces of a crankshaft. That is where oil is necessary to prevent bearing or crankshaft damage.

What he said ^^^ but there are seven main journals on the crankshaft so there are seven main caps.
