Aren't credit cards a wonderful thing?
This crackhead was at a gas station offering to buy people gas. He would say "Let me fill your gas for you, and you just pay me half in CASH". Obviously, the owner of the credit card had no idea this guy was standing out in front of the gas station doing this.
They curbed these types of "thefts" or "losses" by limiting how much gas you can purchase with a card at the same station before it cuts off and goes into "red flag" mode. So now people go into stores, buy expensive high demand items, and resell it for CASH. Since the stores rarely check for signatures, or even Identification, thieves easily get away with this type of theft as well. Coincidentally their friends normally work at the cashiering station to also help them with processing the thefts.
Not saying thats what happened in this instance, but it does happen, frequently.

3 Xbox 360 cores = $900
Sell for $550/each = $1650
He bought these and is selling for a higher price than retail because everywhere is sold out and people are willing to pay extra for them.
Supply and demand.
cykoeprelude 01-10-2006, 05:16 PM oh it wasnt the core i was selling it was the upgraded one with is 400 each
Stealth97 01-11-2006, 09:59 AM oh it wasnt the core i was selling it was the upgraded one with is 400 each
And why do you feel the need to price gouge more than MSRP? Manufacturer Suggests it should Retail for no more than $400.00. If a consumer is stupid enough to pay $550.00, they are either 1) rich, 2) stupid, 3) careless with their money.
This is why we have wholesale/retail distribution links, and why wholesalers do not sell to the public. They don't like this bullshit, anymore than the rest of us do.
The only people who don't care, are those who work in real estate or corporate positions, and make wayyyyyy too much pay for their "work" if you can even call it that. So they can waste loads and loads of cash...well, because they can afford it.
I make good honest money (own my own company), and have been doing the same thing at the same place for 10 years. I am 100% responsible for myself and my money, and I know that overpaying for an Xbox is stupid!
I would also like to add, people are overpaying for an Xbox, which is useless without games. No great game titles are even out for the Xbox 360, so why bother wasting all this cash for nothing? I dont get it.

What made you bring up real estate? your correct on that part.. my girlfriend is a real estate agent and yes she makes a grip load of money..

I think the real estate industry is a crock of shit. Those people expect 6% on everything, but when you want to work on their house, they dont want to spend a dime. Total hypocritical assholes...most of them. They are only in it for the MONEY. NO ONE is in the real estate industry to help anybody else but themselves.
The real estate industry is not balanced with the other things in society. However, it is a necessary evil, because of our system, and continues to flourish as long as home sales and refinances are peaking. As soon as people cant afford to purchase a home anymore (which is now), the industry will bust and several people will exodus. Think I'm wrong? Go back in time and watch the 1980's, or the 1960's, or any time period in history. Cyclical cycle. Only the good ones will prosper and survive.
So, the people who are stupid enough to pay $ 550.00 for an Xbox 360 today, are the same people that will be out of a job in a few years AND have no skills on which to survive. An idiot, making $ 75,000+ yearly, wont be able to hack $40,000 yearly as a car salesman, and surely wont be able to do anything beneficiary like installation of products, i.e. services to others. Do you think a used car salesman is doing anybody a favor? I could buy a car from a computer that treats me better than a used car salesman would in person.
Oh, lets get back on topic. Who are the people paying $550.00 for an Xbox? The same people who are too stupid to find them for MSRP in a store. If I wanted an Xbox 360 I could have gotten one at a store, AND not had to wait in line or anything stupid. I guess I'm just super intelligent. If everybody had my smarts, maybe no Xbox 360s would be available for smart people like myself. Then again, if people like you hadn't snatched up extras, supply would possibly equal demand, and nobody would pay more than MSRP.
In short, you are ripping people off, yet they are too stupid to realize it. Why didn't Microsoft sell the 360 for $500? Because the rest of the world is not that stupid, only 2-5% of the world will be that dumb. Sales would choke.
But hey, you can do whatever you like! I just hope anything you did, did not involve credit card fraud, and if it did, I hope they crucify you, or anybody who did credit card fraud.
If you cannot tell, I am not a fan of people who earn money without doing ANYTHING. You provided an Xbox, and had to procure them. Your time is worth money, surely. My point is, the buyers are morons in their own respect. Now, how to real estate and mortgage people earn money? By shuffling some papers around. No problem there, compensation is fair, but huge numbers on these huge loans, just make for bigger payments for the buyers. Did the lender have to do extra work to procure a loan for $500,000 versus $250,000? No, same work, same shit, more money. Hmm. Anybody else see anything wrong with this?
I do electrical contracting for a living. People are notoriously cheap. I ask them, how much they paid for their house, and how much comission their paid their agent. When I say what I'm charging isn't even 10% of what they paid that jackass to do 1 hour worth of work, they quietly shut up and go away, since they realize how embarassing they must look at that point.
My friend does mortgages and he charges half what people normally charge in Los Angeles and makes a killing. He bought a house, owns new cars, does shit I could never afford to do. Am I in the wrong industry? No. Because I can't take peoples money for doing NOTHING for them. My friend is making money because housing prices have tripled in 10 years, not because he works hard. He makes money off of big numbers.
Also, my friends dad wanted me to do some work. They have some cash flow. Proposal was $7,150. A measly seven thousand dollars. Hes whining and bitching that its expensive. Screw him, he just bought a Plasma TV for $5,000.00, no wonder he has no money! But I just want to install some stuff at his house for a week for $7,150 and $3,150 is material cost. A measly 800/day for a week, and he is bitching. Some people...
