I'm thinking of taking out the back seat (since no one can use it anyway) and put a custom-built fiberglass speaker and sub enclosure in its place. I've never worked with fiberglass before, but I've been doing my research. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with working with fiberglass before and if they'd have any tips for the newbie.

Don't mix in too much hardener, or else the piece will set to quickly, and another thing, it gets hot the faster it hardens, so if you add too much it could catch fire.

keep it all wet and soaking and get about 3 boxes of latex gloves and 2 boxes of face masks because your'e going to have some sanding to do.

We're in the same boat... getting ready to do some glassing, but no experience. I may push to get started/finished this weekend. We're not removing seats, but making enclosures for her MKIV and my MKIII, each w/2 8" low-profile subs. I made the rings already... just gotta find time to get to the rest.

make sure you don't skimp on respirators when the sanding starts. You don't want to be breathing that shiat at all.

Yep, I have a brand new respirator... cheap insurance for about $30 from Home Depot. The facemask stuff may work for other things, but a decent respirator is what's needed for this. Since we're also looking to do some painting, it's one of them things that we'll get alot of use out of.

I like firberglass better than bondo. But I hate using that shit. Wear long sleeves and a skull cap too. damn that stuff itches for days.
