For those that use Nitrous just to spool the turbo, I would assume they'd have to run in Quick 8 Unlimited. My turbo takes forever to spool.

Jason, why such heavy weight minimums? Aren't you at all concerned that you might drive more entries out of an already low attending field? Take a stock TT with single or even worse, and NA-T, run it on a 1/4 tank of gas with a lightweight drag wheel/tire combo. They''ll be at least a 150 lbs under your requirements. Maybe you should reconsider the weight minimums. Just because yours and Saad's car are exceptionally heavy, doesn't mean that the majority took your approach. I don't know of any 6 spd Supra within the top 35 that weighed 3650 when it ran it's best time. Except Saad. Can you say 1 car field?

Marko, those weights are only for the 6spd challenge, which is intended to be a drivers type challenge, and the weights were very well thought out. A stock 6spd supra with added safety equipment, unlightened and with a driver and liquids WILL weigh 3650! That is the point! The class has already been filled, and EVERYONE is well aware what there car needs to weigh.

March 1993 Car and Driver has a stock Supra at 3480 lbs. This would be a minimum as we do not know if the car was full of gas. Average adult male weighs about 175 lbs. That should put the car at 3655lbs on the scales. This is without 30lbs NOS kit, 125lbs cage, 35lbs parachute, safty belts, helmit, 70lbs T6 frame turbo.... You get the point.

If you are trying to imply that the minimum weight is based off of my car then you are barking up the wrong tree. My car weighs 3800lbs with me in it and that is how the cars will be weighed in Vegas, with driver. I would have to loose about 150lbs from my car to get it down to the minimum weight!!

You have brought up one good point though. Mine is the only true full weight Supra that is running in the low nines or better, 6 speed that is. If you calculate for the weight of my car then no one has gone quicker then me:)

Isn't the whole idea of running a 6 speed to keep it as a street vehicle? Why would anyone want to remove weight from a true street car?

Well my drag wheels and tires knock my car's weight down to 3550 w/me (185lbs) with 3/4 tank of gas. I have only removed the AC compressor and traction control. If I put those two things in the hatch, next to my 32lb nitrous bottle, It would still be a far cry from 3800. It won't even get to 3650 if I topped off the tank and put my girlfriend in the car. What gives? I'm lost here. Do you guys have lead-filled roll cages? Solid rubber tires?

Al Rhee
10-04-2005, 10:26 PM
how about for us little asian people? I dont weigh 185 lbs like saad or jason...

:o

that puts me way under the 3650 minimum since im running 15 inch wheels & NA brakes. I think those 2 mods alone dropped my weight nearly 100 pounds

if you do decide to drop the weight minimum I may consider giving saad my $100 donation for the entertainment factor. i'd get my ass kicked in the competition but I would gladly join in the fun.

but then again, I would rather save my $100 and just run in quick 8 turbo and watch the Ryan vs. Saad challenge unfold from the grandstands.

No Jason ,you're right. I totally forgot about the condensor and lines which weight about...4 lbs. Oh, also, I did remove my front bumper support, the aluminum one, It weighs 11 lbs. I DARE you to say anything else is removed :snork_lac . No, wait, there is no spare tire anymore. I anxiously await your reply. You drove the car into the PRI show remember? Did you not take a good look at it?

No, I didn't take a good look at it..sorry! It was freakin' cold!:)
What about the rear wiper and motor? The point here marko is that it wasn't " just a/c compressor and traction control......". All those little things add up. To me if your down to removing a very important piece of safety equipment to save "11lbs" what else isn't there? The Front bumper support is a key component in case of a crash, and there is no WAY I would take that out of my car unless I was looking for every last pound I didn't need to get down the track! The point of the 6spd challenge is that it is a drivers race. If you aren't willing to make sure your car makes weight to go prove how bad ass a driver you are, don't enter! The rules are clear, and have been there since day 1, and are very resonable and well thought out!

Well I did it to fit a big intercooler. My rear wiper is off, it kept flapping around at over 170 mph. It weighed 3 oz I believe. The motor was about 8 oz. So all you could come up with was not even a pound? ;)

Al have you weighed your car? I would bet you $100 it weighs more then 3650 with you in it.

it usually weighs in just a tick over 3500 lbs at the NHRA events.

I do have a few parts removed like spare tire, rear seats, trac pump. thats about 40 pounds.

most of my weightloss comes from: sparco seats (about 20 pounds lighter than the stock seats), 15 inch drag wheels (about 80 pounds lighter than the stock wheels), NA brakes (about 20 pounds).

that adds up to 160 pounds or so. take off another 30 pounds for my scrawny asian butt.

so even with my new 10 pt cage, im thinking i'll be weighing in about 3550 with a full tank.

isnt Ryans car a bit under 3650 too?

I dunno, if you guys decide to make an exception, I would gladly join in the contest. :eusa_ange

but its no big deal for me. im happy runnning in the quick turbo 8 field.
