He he. My Supra needs some attention. When i blew up my 2nd tranny, I got a little fed up and parked the car. I'm going to buy a "real" built tranny this time for next year and hopefully get a little deeper into the 9's.

Chris,

By "real" built tranny, whose are you referring to, and whose have you had in the car before that don't hold the power? Always good to know what to avoid.

There was a screw up with the tranny I bought from Virtual Works. Aparently the guy that builds Dana's trannies gave him a bone stock TH400 which I put in my car and fried. Then I told Dana and he said ship it back and he'd replace it. In the meantime somebody here local told me they could fix it and make it handle all the power I could throw at it for $800. So I paid him $800 and took it to the track and it slowly disintigrated and finally blew out 2nd gear. So now I need to get a "REAL" tranny that can handle the power. So far I'm just ****ed out of a bunch of money.

That's really really strange about the tranny from VW. The tranny that's in the car now hasn't been out for anything other than a converter change (or 2 or 3 or 4) in the last year or 2. It's still going strong and will be ready to go in the car this season as well. Too bad you didn't send it back so the error could be fixed. You wouldn't have had to pull it out again for anything other than engine problems or converter issues.

I don't think you have to shop very far to get a good beefed up 400. Talk to anyone with a high horsepower Chevy.......the trick is the converter.....and a few little lightened parts inside the tranny. But anyone who builds them should know what to do if they're good.

I think the converter VW sold me was fine. The tranny, however, was bone stock. A bone stock TH400 behind a 1000+ rwhp motor and a very slippery converter doesn't last very long. And you are correct, I should have just shipped the whole thing back to Dana.
