I'm new to this site and maybe asking a newb question, I just bought a Supra 1988 and my boost gauge is 2PSI only? Is that the stock gauge or my car got something wrong?

id start with checking your cat to see if its clogged. or a bad boost leak. both of those were problems ive had in the past...

Thanks for the replay but I think you got me wrong... My gauge is only 2PSI the gauge got only +2 and -2 and excuse cause i'm really new to turbo cars I never owned a turbocharged car.

Well I'm not sure.. I live in Iraq and I donno where the care was originally in but I think it's not from the US cause the speed meter is in Km\h and not Mph

And it's a weird car cause it have the front bumber of a 1993 and a rear tailight of a 1988 and it's papers says it's a 1992? But the owner told me it's a 1988..

Beside that, I think I know what he is talking about, the canadian and jdm mk3's came with a boost guage that had .2bar possitive for boost and .2bar negative on vacuum. overall, almost all of us have seen these guages before so thats nothing new. Now back to the supra in iraq............................ I wonder what its like being there with that car, must be insane!

shadowwolfsupra : Well in Iraq you can find many great cars not only Supras , Most of my friends own nice cars, We got a nice collection of Camaros,Firebirds,Trans Ams and Muscle cars like Camaros,Dodge Challenger and many other great cars. But American sports cars are kinda invading Iraq at this time, Not much Japanese or other cars although my friend owns a nice ass Skyline, I myself own 2 POntiacs one is a grand AM which's my daily driver and another Trans am but still needs alot of work to be running.

And about my supra I think I'll have many problems with this car cause in Iraq there's only parts for the 1JG-GE and no parts for the 7M-GTE or they are very rare to find. So I'll see what happens with this 7M if all fails I'll change it to a 1JG-GE cause they are REAL cheap here like I can get an engine with it's transmision and ECU and all other parts related for like 500$ with the cost of the change! Real ****ing cheap...I donno do you guys think that the 1JG-GE is better than a 7M-GTE?

As for your tailights, the European-spec MK3's kept the 86.5-88 tailights throughout the years because you can't fit Euro-spec license plates in the 89-93 design (yes, there are some 1993 MK3s).

That's kewl and it's Euro-Spec?hmm..And yeah about the plate It fits well cause plates in Iraq are kinda similar to the Euro-plates and it fits well in this supra... And which doesn't fit in the back bumber of the US Pontiac Trans Am..and it looks ugly heh.

Anywayz about the pictures My phone used to have a camera which broke and I'll buying a new Digital camera soon and will be posting picture of all my Supra.

Hey about the Turbo gauge? It's 0.2bar? Multiply it by 14PSI it's only 2.8? Is that the maximam of the car? I hear it's around 8 Psi?

If your papers say its a 1992 then it is. The 1993 MK3s were pretty rare and to my knowledge were only 1JZ-GTEs.

As for the boost gauge, what do the units say? My first mk3 was originally from canada and its boost gauge was in mm/hg

Well I read the original papers of the Car IT IS a 1993 MK3 but it's engine is 7M-GTE and it have an Air-conditionar which's strange cause europian & Canadian cars doesn't have AC and the gauge is -2 and +4(I'm blind :D) and it's in mm\HG and today I was at an engines market here , I found the 7M-GE at a price of 175$ is that a good price for a good condition 7M?

first off, everybody don't think that the 93 mk3 only came 1j, eventually the last of the 7m's where placed in those cars as well. Also, AMD, why go for a 7m-ge when you got a 7m-gte that is turbo? By chance do you notice the big difference in that? first off, here is the difference: 7m-ge...200hp, 7m-gte...235hp. Whats nice about the 7m-gte is that if you got allot of people in here that may have sources for you to get the parts that you like. Also, I doubt horsepowerfreaks will deny you in selling you the parts you need unless you are planning on using it as a w.o.m.d., that is the last thing I want to find out, that our mk3's are being used as tool for terrorism. Beside that, you sound like a cool guy, I doubt that you will do that and anyway, it would be cool to see an mk3 hauling ass down the road that leads to kuwait from iraq. I was in the Army and I just got out last year and I have seen the long stretch of road that lead from iraq to kuwait. quite nice even though its hot as hell out there. Beside that, would like to see that, especially if it blows by all those iraqi tanks that where blown up back in the day that are still out there today. Well give it a thaught and see if you now want to run n/a now, lol.

I was just kidding about the terrorist thing, I hope I didn't seriously offend you with that, sometimes I tend to crack jokes about this whole war. besides, I understand your situation with your engine now, It won't be a bad idea about swapping the engine over to the N/A but if you can hold out by next year, supposedly the war will be over by then, which hopefully will open up the market fo you all over there and make it way easier for you to get upgrades and spare parts for your mk3. Anyway, how many kilometers or miles does the car have? if it has real low miles, it should hold out just fine until the war is over as long as you don't push it too hard. I just hope this war can be over by now, I would really like to see the outcome of the first bahgdad stormer hauling ass down the road over there and scaring the shit out of those hilux drivers out there. Anyway, hopefully this shit can seriously be over now, I seriously want to see how everything goes for you.

Well sorry if I took things too Seriously it's just because i'm tired of all those stuff.

Anywayz..My car got 118K and as for the engine it's great it doesn't burn oil and doesn't give white smokes from the exhaust and I'm pretty careful with it I don't just go to hard on it cause I know If something broke It would be pain in the ass to fix it so if I wanna scare the shit out of some Hilux drivers , I would scare them with my Trans am with more than 320Hp but after I get finished with a blown head-gasket :D

And yeah I really wish this war is over and as soon as posible cause it's killin everyone here. We held a bunch of races here like illegal street racing and stuff I'll host some videos as soon as I get them.

awesome, definitely would like to see videos of that. its sound good too that your supra is running well and hopefully, it stays that way for a while longer.

a 7mge for only 175$ I have stumbled on two of the same engine. The first was 800$. The second was 400$ why are these engines so damn inexpensive???
I have never priced an engine for anything that was less than a grand. what gives???

I currently Having a Blown head gasket and the car is sleeping in the garage but i'm thinking about something else. I got a sweet deal on a 2JZ-GTE from a JDM car something called MarkII or something like this but would this engine fit instead of the 7M-GTE? I got the engine for a nice price of 600$ and it's in great condition. I really like the stock 320hp of that engine so would it fit?
