: downpipe help
joel w. 11-06-2005, 11:45 PM ok i was in the "other" supra forums and i was explaining that i ordered this new full 3" downpipe and some manrel bends and pipe to do the turbo back, w/ no cats, and this one guys tells me i am waisting my money with the 3" downpipe, says i should get a header if i want to see any "real" hp increases worth while. this sounded like bs to me, but you ppl seem to know wtf your talking about so i want to know what you all think. here is the downpipe i ordered, it doesnt use the stock restrictive 90 ell so let me know if you think its worth it. lol
is there even a header made that fits a upgraded ct-26?
joel
he also says hes runing 732hp at the crank so i think he may be on crank?

You've got a turbo car and he's telling you to buy a header? Disregard anything he says. Everything you've done so far is right.
SP 7M 11-07-2005, 08:51 AM Turbo manifolds/headers are most often left alone if the stock turbo is used. That DP along with the rest of your setup will suit you just fine.
joel w. 11-07-2005, 11:40 AM cool, im glad to hear it, everything ive ever read said to start with the downpipe on turbo rigs. so im glad you agree, thank you guys..
i wish i had a dyno in the area to get some before and after numbers.. right now im using a heavily hogged out stock 90 ell with full 2.5 inch w/ sleeved cats and a big flowmaster but the 90 ell is still really restrictive??. but hopefully this new 3" will give me some gains??.. my exhaust manifold is heavily ported and the turbos been pumped up to a 50 trim. I got the spearco IC and all the IC tubing to 2.5" and a big K&N and a HKS FCD amd stage 3 pressure plate all installed. should rock in my newbie oppinion?

Loki89t 11-07-2005, 03:39 PM I would have bought one of Becauseican's DP instead of that one, I think his design is better than that one but any 3" is better then stock.

i searched for becausican's dp products page. but the page was dead? is it the divorced type? got a pik? i was going to build a divorced type but just the materials alone is more than i paid for this one so i settled on this one..
Loki89t 11-07-2005, 04:27 PM Here is the divorced

That is weird that Randy's site was down, He does have the vendor section on SupraMania. That would be another way to get a hold of him.
joel w. 11-07-2005, 04:46 PM wow nice pics, howd you do that? mine were just links.. ohh ic there hosted on his server cool..
ya i just was gonna sign up to supramania so i could look at the piks. but thanks, those are both very nice. the thing i liked about the one i got coming is the full 3" flex connector that those dont seem to include? but it may not be needed,
that divorced on looks LOUD!!! :eusa_ange but i trying to be steathy a bit....not to loud anyways.. hehe i got a new 3 inch flowmaster 2 chamber, but not sure im gonna run it or get something else.... dont like the look of it,, sounds cool though
Loki89t 11-07-2005, 07:22 PM I am pretty sure that Randy can add in a flex section if you want one in it. Here is a link to my thread on SupraMania with a flyby video of my car running the DDP with stock exhuast. It's loud and I love it, I can't wait till the rest of my exhuast is done. I've never heard a MKIII running a Veilside Ti, just wish it was bigger inlet so I could keep it :(

joel w. 11-07-2005, 07:35 PM thats sounds bitchen, does it scare people off the road when you pass em? hahhahaha
how bout the cops do they hastle ya for excessive noise?

I made some girls jump that were walking down the road as I drove past them, I get weird looks from people all the time. I was racing my friend in his 300zx and I was right beside him and he had his windows down, then afterwards all he said was "damn your car is loud" :snork_lac
Never had the cops say anything about it, if I see a cop I just don't gas it too much when I go past. With the stock exhuast you can make it really quiet when you want it to be ;)
joel w. 11-07-2005, 07:45 PM hahha ya ive made em jump with just the ssqv blow off hhahahhah makes me laugh evertime i drive it.. turbos rule...
SP 7M 11-08-2005, 07:24 AM You'll have significant power gains and reduction in spool time once you put that DP on. The stock elbow is just horrible for flow.
Daledoe 11-20-2005, 07:51 PM What was that kids name????? He was probly like 15!!!!
joel w. 11-20-2005, 07:58 PM supposably he was a "toyota guru" tech for many yrs
Brewster 11-20-2005, 10:08 PM lol but you're running the ct26..
joel w. 11-20-2005, 10:11 PM yeah thats why i asked the experts here, i was shocked at what he was sayin..
Nick M 11-21-2005, 01:22 AM A "header" is just a common name for a tubular exhaust manifold. I guess it would help some, but I havent heard of anybody making tubular manifold for the CT26. Get that downpipe.
Daledoe 11-21-2005, 07:58 AM I've seen a manifold for a ct26 on e-bay but I think it was a stock one honed out!!!
SupraMan1784 11-21-2005, 08:13 AM not this thread again, joel dint we have a little discussion about this? our little toyota tech is making crazy power with his 7m...more than the guy in teh 1 spot...so how come he isnt on 7mpower.com? because hes making more power...little sketchy if you ask me
joel w. 11-21-2005, 08:34 AM ya we can close this thread any time. someone just asked me be about it.. yes its installed and id say that it works very well, thanks guys..
shadowwolfsupra 11-30-2005, 12:38 PM I know for sure that Turbonetics makes a turbo manifold for our MK3. Not very noticable but when you compare the ports from both the stock and that one, there is one big ass difference. Very pricy though, would cost you maybe around $500-800. The best thing about that manifold is that you can both use the stock ct26 or can place another bigger turbo on it. If you get this, be sure to upgrade the injector and what not if you havent done so already. Here is the site for the manifold
http://www.turboneticsinc.com/pa_manifolds.htm
let me know whats up. At the mean time, don't pay much attention to those dumbasses that don't make sense in the forums or are just assholes, they tend to ruin allot for us that really try to get in the pursuit of speed and total boost rushes, lol. Tell me how it goes
joel w. 11-30-2005, 01:02 PM ohh cool. i figured someone had to make one.. but i think when i decide to go bigger than this upgraded ct-26 i will go with a t4 type headder and turbo. i think the ct26 is an ok turbo but the newer ones are much more reliable from what ive been reading and can create more power in the long run... thanks for the link..
miggles 12-04-2005, 07:51 AM i got a 3" dump made up from the back of the turbo to my 3" hollowed out car going to my 3.5" trust muffler. That is the biggest gain i can say ive gotten including my fmic(600x300x100mm+3" in/outlet).You will notice a quicker spool time and even a slight whistle as the turbo spools.Previously i had a dump made up but the dodgey exh shop just chopped off the stock pipe and jammed on a 3" halfway up and used a muffler clamp and welds to hold it on.As for getting headers for a turbo car?!?! i thought headers are extractors (is aust they are) and are for NA cars, mostly v8's.
joel w. 12-04-2005, 10:24 AM well when i said header i should have said tubular manifold... my bad..
