START PARAMETERS
we used a basemap that a fellow supra guy wrote. but, in order to get it to Even start, the cold start enrichment table was zeroed out. also, the 24* advance in the STart-spark was too much. it would spark knock just before the engine fired up. its down to 12* advance, but it hard starts Really bad. the injector time table at 0% throttle was changed from 60% up to 120% and everywhere inbetween. it didnt really make much of a difference. the engine rotates probably 6 times before it fires up. when restarting it immediately after the engine loads up and stalls, it seems to fire up MUCH easier, like 1-2 revolutions. so, the start injector time table may need to be enriched past 120%? thats one thing i really want to sort out is the Start parameters.
O2 CALIBRATION
i dont know if anyone knows whats up w/ the FJO wideband and calibrating the EMS to read accurate AFR's based on raw voltage. i used the analog voltage table on the LAST page in the FJO booklet and calibrated the O2 #1 cal table using the 0-3.5v chart. so, the AFR's vs. Voltage readout in the AEM is accurate as far as the analog table from FJO goes. however, the FJO digital guage reads 0.5 points RICHER than the AEM AFR readout. the FJO guage will read 10.1, the AEM will read 10.6ish which coincides with the FJO analog chart... wtf mate? should i trust FJO's analog voltage table or the direct AFR readout on the FJO digi guage?
FUEL MAP
also, does anyone know if the Load breakpoints can be calibrated? when idling (btw, the target idle table and correction table is set PERFECT. target idle is within 10-13rpm of target; 750) the Load breakpoint is -3.86, even though vaccum is -0.600 kpa according to the Defi. so, stock vacc at stock idle is displayed as -3.86 on the parameter table. Is this going to effect the fuel map when the car is driving or boosting? maybe the Map sensor output needs to be calibrated or something... on the map that was made for us, the -14 row started at single digits, then the next break point row increased essentially by 10 units. then the next breakpoint row (-3.86psig) increased by 20 units. the next breakpoint row incresaed by 30 units. this seemed to be the trend as you progressed into the next higher breakpoint row. is this typical? the car didnt run right w/ the original map, alot of the values had to be decreased significantly just to get the car to stop blowing black smoke. for instance, from 0-2250rpm and -3.86psig load, the input values are 15-17. the car runs at ~12:1. when i try to lean it out even more, the car begins to lean out and breaks up once it reaches 13:1. from there, it gets worse and worse and then dies out. maybe its cuz the plugs are horribly fouled out from the past maps.
also, i noticed there is a decel table in the fuel map menu. will this help stop the car from stalling out after revving the engine?
are the fuel injectors supposed to make noise when applying throttle with the engine OFF? i noticed that depressing the throttle with the engine off still seems to allow fuel to be injected.
one last thing, ive noticed that the car seems to idle and rev smoothly with one set of values, but it has a tendancy to degrade in quality if i come back and run it 5 min after setting the fuel map values.
thanks
chris
