Whats the easiest way to get at the heater core? I know where it is thanks to my front cut, but I actually found it harder to remove the heater core in a ma70 than to convert it to a 1jz. Mine leaks bad and I need heat this winter. :help:

So how can I get to it? I already have most of the interior removed on the front i.e. center console, gauges, glovebox, computer and such.

You need to remove the entire dash and the steering wheel support bar (The big metal bar behind the dash)

Then simply unbolt the box and remove it, then take it apart and replace the heater core, reverse process for intsallation. It will NOT come out with the bar still in there, you need to literally remove everything.

I did it the lazy way and unbolted the bar, and sort of held it up while I pulled out the heater core box, to remove that entire bar is a PITA, my wiring harness was all wrapped around it.

ya its a fun job, i did mine last summer, i dont like the pipes that attatch to the heater core with the Orings that extend the lines through the firewall, i think mine leak still a small amount. if i was to do mine again i would solder those extensions on to the heater core permanantly

Good Luck, I did it without reading anything, just started tearing things out.

Yeah, I would solder them since you have them out. Great peace of mind. Previous owner wrapped electrical tape around mine.
