YOU GOT IT!!!!!!

Is the ENGINE START STOP button. Is working fine and I love it. Took me a couple of days to work out a diagram for the relays and to find out what each of the 11 pins on the button are for. Once I was ready to test the circuit, something was wrong because half the relay circuit wasn't working. I was too anxious to get it to work, so I installed two very small switches, which activate 5 relays to make the ACC, ON, positions work. I'm still working on the relay circuit to get it to work, but I don't have a lot of time to put into it. I am now looking for a programmable chip that can do the same functions but with less of a mess. It took me longer than usual to get the setup completed because I sordered everything instead of just tighting then together to avoid problems down the road. Next time, I'm gonna make a small circuit board with small relays and chips. It will be very compact and will do all the functions it was designed to do.
The way it normally works is you depress the brake and push the button once to allow current to ACC, then press the button again with the brake depressed to start the engine. I forget how you shut it off. Probably, the car has to be stopped and the e-brake on or something.
Check it out at night.

TOYOTA usually uses green for everything, but I took the button apart and replaced the LED for the ENGINE START STOP sign with a red one. So it really points out the button at night time.
Anomili 10-28-2005, 07:22 PM Very nicely done. :D This is exactly the type of stuff I am into: Integrating modern technology into my car. Good job!
SupraMan1784 10-31-2005, 07:43 AM thats hot....but dont u gotta have the key for it? like i know for the s2000 u turn teh key first...then press teh button for teh ignition...then to shut it off you just turn the key...not sure if its the same for the lexus...s2000 setup sounds a little easier to learn
The Great Tougini 10-31-2005, 01:09 PM thats awesome!!! i have to have that for my car!!! instead of having it say engine start or whatever, i want it to say "LET'S DRIVING!" is there any way to get it to say that?

umm...do you mean "Let's Drive"? or "Let's Go Driving"? trust me when i say this...you dont want it to say "Let's Driving"..... :image:
Loki89t 10-31-2005, 05:49 PM That is cool.
LexusTech117 11-01-2005, 01:03 AM The push button starter for the new Lexus GS300, GS430, IS250, and IS350 work in unison with "SmartAccess" The following paragraph should explain pretty clearly how the system works.
To use the push-button engine start, the SmartAccess fob must be within the vehicle’s interior detection area and the shifter in the “P” position. The driver presses the brake pedal, which initiates the system check for the correct ID code. Once the ID code is confirmed, the system automatically disengages the immobilizer and steering lock, and the “Engine Stop/Start” power button’s built-in indicator light illuminates green—signaling the driver can push the button and start the vehicle. The engine switch has a built-in amplifier to start the engine if the fob battery is low. (The fob includes an LED indicator so users can monitor battery life and the battery used in the fob uses a widely available CR1632 lithium battery.)
I love working for Lexus :) Any other questions?

flubyux2 11-01-2005, 03:39 AM thats bad as hell man!
the lexus push button start is a bit too involved and comprehensive for me. in order to make full use of it, im sure there is an ecu and key fob sensor as well as the key fob and the circuitry that will intiallize the ID check that begins with the brake pedal.
personally, what i would do is remove the wires that pass current from the IGN ON switch on the tumbler, and reroute them through the dash into another illuminated push-button start. this will remove the IGN Start function from the column tumbler and transfer this function to the button. but, when wired properly, the key will HAVE to be inserted and in the IGN ON position so that power will pass from the tumbler circuit, to the push button and then out of the push button back into the stock IGN START wire that mates to the stock starter solenoid relay. all itll do is basically separate the IGN START function from the Ignition switch and isolate it to the aftermarket button. simple in concept. shouldnt be too hard to sort out really ;)
great thinking though and well done!
SupraMan1784 11-01-2005, 07:00 AM haha ill have to agree with chris on this one...it seems as if lexus made it a little to complicated...though very high tech....it seems as if you could make it a lot easier....but id rather just stick the key in teh keyhole and turn... makes more sense to me :aiwebs_02
flubyux2 11-01-2005, 03:38 PM keyholes are cool, but a bit outdated. the pushbutton thing is a new novelty, i could see myself trying to retrofit one into my car.
LexusTech117 11-01-2005, 07:26 PM The trick is making a push button starter that is secure. Having to use the key before you can push the button is lame. Being able to get in your car and start it without the use of a key at all is cool.

flubyux2 11-02-2005, 02:01 AM having to use the key before using the button is OLD school. i have to do that in my dad's 53 F100 pickup. that bitch is SWEET. the Supra should only be so lucky to have something that cool!
SupraMan1784 11-02-2005, 06:26 AM my supra came with keyholes for a reason...to use a key to unlock/lock the doors and start the motor...and some other stuff...my supra is an old skool throwback...aint nothin gonna change that

So you wired the whole setup in your car?
How many parts to this setup? Is the immobilizer, amp, etc. all in one?
I think it would be sweet if you could get into you car with the fob in your pocket, hit the brake pedal, then start your car.
flubyux2 11-02-2005, 04:03 PM you COULD actually hook up a brake pedal switch so that you DO need to apply the brakes to allow continuity to the start circuit of the push button switch... like a Ford. that personally is a PITA moreso than it is cool though.
psykho supra 11-02-2005, 04:41 PM I think I would bypass the brake switch. I just would like to have the sense of security with having to have the fob within the car to use the push button.
flubyux2 11-03-2005, 02:17 AM well, either that or just needing the key to turn the tumbler into the On position so the car will at least start.
psykho supra 11-04-2005, 01:10 AM Ah, very true.

No, I have not wired this into my car. It would cost a lot of money to get a transmitter fob and a receiver for the Supra from Lexus. The best way to do it would be to find some aftermarket company that produces the same thing or wait until I can buy a wrecked GS430,GS300,IS250,orIS350 and use its gear. Preferably the GS430 because I want the motor for the Supra too.

That pretty much sums it up. Thanks.
IHI-RHC7 11-23-2005, 01:25 PM I think the cool thing about not having to turn the key all the way to "Start" is that you don't interrupt the ACC and ON circuits when cranking. AKA the radio can stay o when you crank.
That, and the novelty factor would entice me to do a push button starter.
LamaRossa 11-29-2005, 08:30 PM what the **** are you guys talking about
that shit adds like 10 hp
totally worth it
Anomili 11-29-2005, 11:23 PM ^^ you have latent anger issues :P
In other news... how much abuse have you taken over your car?
Flamesuit: I personally respect the amount of custom work that it took to get your car to where it is.
