Im excessivly 80's-ish according to my friends. im down w/ the 80's sports cars, music, tv, movies, culture. its like i was goin along the fashion train and made it to 1989 and said "thats it, i aint goin no further". whats sad is, i watch "I love the 80's" on VH1, and i know EXACTLY what they are talking about. alot of the people i hang out with are a bit younger than me, except for one of my good friends. hes only 1 year younger than me and hes the only one who really knows what im talkin about and everyone else looks at us like we are idiots.

my finishing touch to the whole persona is my cell phone ringer; Magnum PI theme song... OOoooh yeah baby! :tweetz:

i cant wait to get my car back on the road, take the targa off and rock the SHIT outa some 80's Rock.

How 80's am i? I have a huge collection of 80's movies. I bought the ALF box set from series 1 and 2. I collect vinyl! uh.....shit loads of 80's music. My ring tone for a while was the theme song to fraggle rock.

lol... when i changed my ring tone to the Magnum PI theme, i feel so cool when people call me. Magnum PI and Miami Vice are the 2 coolest theme songs EVAR. i was gonna get the Miami Vice theme song, but you couldnt really tell thats what it was... so magnum PI it was!

i watch MacGuyver and Quantum Leap and what not. i was watching good ol Sam and Al on TV, and my roommate comes out and says "what the hell is this?" hes 19. im like, "its quantum leap". he says "...and?". so i have to give a quick synopsis of what Quantum leap is. i cant beleive he didnt even know what it was. lol

Holy crap, anyone remember Highway Man and Airwolf? omg, those were my 2 favorites.

Skindred
10-27-2005, 04:34 PM
Yeah, I remember all those, Quantum leap was the shit. He kept leaping into people's bodies and kicking the shit out of the bad guys. and airwolf should of never been cancelled!!!! I had that game on my Nintendo. wo0t!

I'm not much for the 80's. I like a few 80's cars and movies, but that's about it. Don't care for the music at all.

Late 60's, early 70's is where its at.

Quantum leap's a good show though.

60's were alright, except you had vietnam and hippies. that sucked
70's were alright, except you had the aftermath of vietnam, and then disco... disco, wtf mat?

80's had great music, cool turbocharged sports cars, great shows that capitalized on integrating motorized transportation as well as advanced sci-fi technology.

whats not to love about the 80s!

anyone remember the "French Roll" and stonewashed jeans? :respekt:

Chris-Your sideburns are excessively 80's-ish! Yeah, I just thought I'd say that.

I'm into some stuff that the 80's had to offer. I like a few of the cars from then, I think it's the second best decade for metal/rock music and there was some other cool action that I can't really think of right now.

I guess I'm kinda 80's, I cant get enough of the cars, and I love most of the music, the problem is that I was born in 88, so nowadays, I swear I was born in the wrong decade

I'm more into the 90's than the 80's. I think that ended up being a good decade for clothing style, though it had a rough start. I must say that it was the best decade for music.

I forgot say earlier that the 80's were kickass because my wife and I were born during them.

yeah, ive had my sideburns for a while. they tend to propagate by themselves. when i get a wigbust, i have them mowed down to the same length as the rest of my hair, and then trimmed up so they are higher than the bottom of my ear. but towards the end of my wigbust cycle, like when im due for another, my 'burns end up well below my ears. everyone says i should cut them off, as a change, but i refuse. they are my persona!

the 80's did rock as far as music. the rap, hip-hop and rock all owned faces. i even like the pop from the 80's. shit, Metallica and AC/DC owned ALL in the 80's, when they were on their drug and alcohol fueled rampages.

i wouldnt mind actually bringing back the 50's too. with my side burns, leather jacket, jeans and white t-shirt. i was the stereotypical greaser for quite a while.

SP 7M
11-01-2005, 07:47 AM
'80's Metallica is right-that's the only decade that they made good music in. I'm not too big on AC/DC, not to knock their talent, though, but their drummer did suck.

Thrash metal was it in the '80's thanks to Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax and Suicidal Tendencies (though they got better in the early '90's).

flubyux2
11-01-2005, 03:21 PM
ah yes, Megadeth did own them all... sweating bullets and whatnot, that album is one that i like the most. i havent heard that stuff in quite a while.

i'm not going to even begin to describe how 80's i am. put it this way....my ringtone on my phone is a quote from back to the future--(1985). this year i saw foreigner in concert along with bryan adams, def leapord, cinderella, quiet riot, ratt, and firehouse. i have tickcets to see bon jovi in december and this weekend i am going to see skid row, slaughter and vixxen in baltimore. that should describe a littel bit of how "80's" i really am.

yeah, i watched Bevery Hills Cop last night. it was a freakin riot. i love Eddie Murphy.

Dave O is quite 80's, good work on that! i commend you sir.

i was actually going to use the Kenny Loggins song from Caddy shack on my phone as a ringtone... but it was shitty quality. so i stuck with Magnum PI theme song.

Chris-I do believe you are wrong. "Peace Sells...But Who's Buying" and "Rust In Peace" were Megadeth's best albums. That's true thrash mastery for ya.

Dave-You named a few decent bands and more bad ones. You need to turn the heaviness up. ;)

80's movies that are still rockin': Christmas Vacation (my favorite of all); Planes, Trains and Automobiles; *mind suddenly goes blank*. K, I guess that's it for now.

Sorry Dave, but I gotta say that calling bands "hair bands" is ridiculous. What usually is characterized as that is what is more appropriately known as glam rock. Every band ever made can be called a "hair band" if any of the members have hair. If it were called "hair-sprayed long hair-sporting metal poser rock," that would be more accurate. But that's too long of a name for a genre of music. Do ya see where I'm coming from? I'll stick with glam rock.

I think that the best 10 year span in music starts in the 80's and ends in the 90's. 86-95 or so sounds about right.

Movies-Spaceballs, The Great Outdoors (or did I already mention that?) and Caddyshack (previously mentioned) are some good ones.

How could you guys forget NiteRider? or was it Nightrider? Either way, it's the best reingtone ever. Chris, I suggest you try it out.
Bad things from the 80's-90's transition, As kickAss as David was in the latter, was his sad demise from the 80's hall of fame to the low ranks of baywatch... Sad times.

Napoleon dynamite was teh lose. it was the suck.

Nightrider was the freakin win! i love that show. especially cuz my dad had a Trans Am in 86, so iw as like, WHOA, theres dads car! that thing is awesome. so i got to stay up late and watch that, A-team and DUkes of Hazzard. i tried to DL the Knightrider ring tone but it was sucky quality and you couldnt really tell what it was. but Magnum PI was quite definable. its pretty sweet

Lost in Translation and The Royal Tenenbaums I'm sure were too dry for most. I found them both to be funny, though.

Some of the popular colors in the 80's sucked. Pastels are bullshit. When I see or think of pastels I think of Florida, particularly in the 80's. They go hand in hand.

Like the remake of Turn the Page...you gotta be kidding...Lars must have needed a new gold toilet or something, embarassing!

As far as A/C D/C goes, :snork_tan I thought they ripped when Bon Scott was the lead singer (died of alcohol poisioning in the front seat of a Rolls Royce).

Just my 2 cents.

Lightning and Master are my faves from Metallica. After that comes Justice and Kill Em All. James Hetfield's voice was purely amazing on Lightning. "Fade To Black" may very well be my favorite Metallica song. They have some really great underrated tunes from those, too. I really dig the instrumentals like "To Live Is To Die" (has some talking in it but no singing), "Orion" and "The Call of Ktulu."

I haven't listened to Metallica in so long but I really do like their music. I've just been into other genres than Thrash for a while. I'm getting into more of the down-tuned sludge/doom styles that grind like a mofo.
