: Duane Wannabe...
IHI-RHC7 10-19-2005, 07:31 PM Hey Everyone, and a big thanks to Chris B for everything he's done for our community!
My name is Jake, and every now and then my other half, Heidi will be posting on our behalf.
We own a fairly nice midnight blue pearl 87 turbo targa with the sports package. Heidi purchased the car a little over 2 years ago from its original owner for $3,000. The car has been very well maintained with all service records, receipts included, and all service performed at the beaverton toyota dealership.
The car was stone stock and even had the turbo cool down sticker on the door when she got it. It has since turned into our little project and it is very satisfying to see our hard work solidified into a pretty nice little MKIII.

It's not stock any more.
Ahyway, the reason I'm a Duane wannabe is because I have a ceramicoated IHI-RHC7 turbo kit waiting to go in with a fully built engine, that just so happens to be nearly identical to UpgradedSupra's setup. The car is also riding on TEIN HA full coilovers, which Duane also has. Of course duanes car is much more white than ours, and has much more shiney stuff on it. ;)
I love these smileys!
Anyway, Thanks for the cool site Chris, I remember when I would come over to your attic to pick up parts with my dad.. How times have changed. Keep up the Great work!

Loki89t 10-19-2005, 07:46 PM Welcome Jake and Heidi, nice to see you over here. If you car is only fairly nice than my car must be an absolute p.o.s, is that what you're trying to say? :snork_abe
J/k  your car is super clean, wish my paint was that good.
IHI-RHC7 10-19-2005, 07:50 PM HA! Thanks Loki.
The car will be nicer whne I get the motor done, but that's been almost two years in the making, and school is NOT helping that move along...
ma71supraturbo 10-19-2005, 08:02 PM paint? Check out the interior! That is one clean MK3. Congrats
upgradedsupra 10-19-2005, 10:32 PM Hey Jake. Cool man very cool :respekt: I like the fact that you have similar stuff. Now we should race when hitting the track eh! :snork_lac Should be good! You have head work as well? valves etc...? What size exhaust?
Actually, drop me a line if you get a chance on the toll free or leave a number in PM and I'll call you.
Tell the lady I said hey eh ;)
Duane
Loki89t 10-19-2005, 11:23 PM paint? Check out the interior! That is one clean MK3. Congrats
I can look at my car if I wanna see a clean blue interior, but the paint on Jake/Heidi's car amazes me.
Turbo-Joe 10-19-2005, 11:44 PM omg a girl!
7MGTESUPRAMAN 10-20-2005, 08:49 AM that car is clean
87mgterelic 10-21-2005, 09:29 AM clean ass car! but why did you take off the factory turbo cool down sticker ? my 87t was the only supra i've ever seen with it still on and in prefect conditon . i was hoping to see it on your car still.
IHI-RHC7 10-21-2005, 11:39 AM Heidi removed it when she got it. I have no idea why she took it off.
If anyone cares to know what's done to it, just ask. ;)
upgradedsupra 10-27-2005, 11:15 PM Heidi removed it when she got it. I have no idea why she took it off.

SupraMan1784 10-28-2005, 07:51 AM i like that midnight blue color...might have to steal it off you
SupraMan1784 10-28-2005, 07:56 AM also one quick question whered u get the clear lights up front? did u make them or did u buy them?
SP 7M 10-28-2005, 09:04 AM Welcome to the forum.
Awfully clean Supra you've got there. Any plans for rims?
IHI-RHC7 10-28-2005, 11:51 AM It's sitting on JZA70 gunmetal 5 spokes at the moment. They are exactly what the car needs for now. We may have them widened though...
Supraman, Heidi found the clear corners on ebay right after she bought the car. It's about the only bling we can stand. Actually, I think they look good.
Thanks for the comments!
I'll get back to you on that duane.. ;)
Loki89t 10-28-2005, 12:36 PM It's sitting on JZA70 gunmetal 5 spokes at the moment. They are exactly what the car needs for now. We may have them widened though...
How wide are you planning on going with them? I've heard you can't really get a wide tire in a 16" :(
IHI-RHC7 10-28-2005, 01:03 PM Loki, I've seen 285 bfgs.. I'd like to go 10" in the rear and 8.5 up front.
I should have some pics soon. (weather permitting)
Here's what done to it, and future plans.
K&N, 3" GM MAF, MAFT, 2.75" hardpipes, Blitz 4 core FMIC, HKS SSQ BOV,T-Bolt Clamps, RC 550s, Aeromotive AFPR, Walbro 255 lph hp, port matched upper intake manifold, Titan 2mm MHG, ARP head studs, 5 Angle valve job, Ported and polished head, ported and polished exhaust manifold, Stock CT-26 blowing 17-21 @ peak torque, 10 psi @ peak power, BIC DDP ceramic coated with wide band bung, cooleeze test pipe and cat back pipes, Apex-i N1 muffler, Remote oil filter, B&M supercooler oil cooler, B&M thermostatic oil control valve, 13 ft of -10AN oil tubing, 7.5 qts of full synthetic 20W50, Apex-i AVC-R and S-AFC-II, HKS Type 1 Turbo timer, K-Mart rear sunshade, Tein HA fully adjustable coilovers, HPF bronze sprung hub 6 puck clutch disk, ACT heavy duty Pressure plate, rebuilt slave cyl, Clear front turn signals, 15% tint, JZA70 Gunmetal 5 spokes, Sumitomo HTR+ 225-50-16 up front 245-50-16 out back. 305RWHP @ 5,000 rpm, 385TQ @ 2800 rpm.

SupraMan1784 10-28-2005, 01:17 PM your car is pretty stacked...nice job..and yep...looks like imma hafta steal those clear lights from you...where do u live again?
SP 7M 10-29-2005, 03:33 AM That's an attractive list of mods you've got there. Your torque number is nice, but I was expecting more for WHP.
So both of you are into the car and working on it is what it seems. That's pretty cool. I've gotten my wife into cars and she really likes mine. She even likes how loud it is. I think that's really cool when a couple both have a passion for their car(s).

His/her Supra will put down 600 whp no problem as he has an almost exact set-up as me.
See sig ;)
Duane
SP 7M 10-29-2005, 04:34 AM I know it will be a completely different story once the new turbo is installed, Duane. But even with a stock CT26 I would've conjectured that it would put down more than than what it does. I guess every car is different, though.
IHI-RHC7 10-29-2005, 10:17 AM SP, Heidi here, peak power is at 10 psi...
Most stock cts make 300 rwhp with 15 psi, so it really does make more power than most. The issue is that the wastegate is closed at peak power also, so we think there is a boost leak to track down.
I've always loved cars, especially supras, so its quite handy that Jake likes them too!
We make a good pit crew! :drinking:
ChrisB 10-30-2005, 10:28 AM Hey Everyone, and a big thanks to Chris B for everything he's done for our community!
My name is Jake, and every now and then my other half, Heidi will be posting on our behalf.
Jake,
Thanks.. This forum has been fun getting going. My team has spent countless hours getting everything going and making sure it meets everybodies needs. It's grown surprisingly fast. I'm really excited about it.
Good luck with the new motor for your Supra. It's a very nice ride.
Take care,
Chris.
SP 7M 10-31-2005, 03:23 AM Heidi-Thanks for the reply. That number is quite significant at only 10 psi. Sounds like you both have a lot of fun with it, which is good to hear.
Turbo-Joe 10-31-2005, 03:30 AM i really like to see pre89s. i prefer the 89+ style myself but a clean car like that with all clean body parts that should be there (like the bumper lip) and paint thats still that clean really seem to take the age off the car!
Loki89t 10-31-2005, 05:49 PM Joe your old avatar was better.
Turbo-Joe 10-31-2005, 06:32 PM im only using it on this forum. it makes me laugh
Brewster 11-01-2005, 12:51 AM That car is beautiful!
flubyux2 11-01-2005, 03:44 AM yea yea yea... car is nice... but, how bout more pics of heidi? oh, well, i suppose you can post a pic of yourself too, Jake... if you feel left out. ;) j/k
your car looks flawless. im approve of it significanntly. i only hope the pair of 87 turbos im working on now will turn out that clean. they are the Medium Metallic Blue, factory color. they are Matching supras! just need to get them whipped into shape!
cant wait to see dyno sheets or vids of your. looks great guys. keep up the good work.
Btw, Heidi, do you have a sister ;)
SP 7M 11-01-2005, 08:24 AM Yeah, Joe, your new avatar is garbage. I expected more from you.
Chris-You're too 80's for a girlfriend.
IHI-RHC7 11-01-2005, 08:57 AM Chris, Heidi DOES have a sister ;)
Thanks for the comments Joe. I haven't piped in too much about your car, but I must say I love it (save the color ;))
We'll get some fresh Dyno charts up after we find and eliminate boost leaks.
flubyux2 11-01-2005, 03:14 PM bro, chicks love the 80's... and if they dont, they will like the 90's in me too. im a culmination of all things good from each chronological era. i am a cool guy ;) lol
joey's car is a pretty cute color, that powder blue. its darling.
soo... whats up w/ heidi's sister, eh?
Loki89t 11-01-2005, 08:17 PM Chris-You're too 80's for a girlfriend.
 .
7MGTESUPRAMAN 11-01-2005, 08:26 PM Chris is the 80's man
Turbo-Joe 11-01-2005, 11:12 PM joey's car is a pretty cute color, that powder blue. its darling.
you guys
Loki89t 11-01-2005, 11:13 PM Metallic Mica blue > Homo blue.
flubyux2 11-02-2005, 01:56 AM is that the real name for the dark toyota blue on the 87-88 cars? the Paint supply store simply has it listed as Medium Metallic blue. either way, thats the color im shooting on this 87 hardtop i have... anyone want to buy it when its done? ;)
SP 7M 11-02-2005, 05:01 AM i am a cool guy ;) lolWell it's good to know that you feel that way about yourself. Too bad nobody agrees with you.
IHI-RHC7 11-02-2005, 11:24 AM Isn't there an , I don't know... general forum where you guys can argue about the 80's-ness of chriss, the gayish-ness of joe's blue, the mica-ness of chris' blue, and the in-japan-ness of craig? Although it makes this thread look really interesting from the outside.. :eusa_eh:
Anyway, heidi's sister lives over here in oregon, and has a significant other type of friend... so you'll have to find your own girl chris. Plus Heidi had to change her starter for her,, so she's not nearly as awesome as Heidi. It was really funny though when Andrew, heidi's brother, had to have her change his downpipe because he couldn't figure it out. That's why we fit together so nicely :snork_yin
SP 7M 11-02-2005, 11:46 AM I'll stay in line now and stick to the topic.
You didn't have to yell. *tear*
flubyux2 11-02-2005, 05:23 PM well, sounds like youve got quite a catch. good work! dont let her get away, cuz i got dibs! lol j/k.
stay focused brayden, damn e-thugs.
Loki89t 11-02-2005, 06:16 PM is that the real name for the dark toyota blue on the 87-88 cars? the Paint supply store simply has it listed as Medium Metallic blue. either way, thats the color im shooting on this 87 hardtop i have... anyone want to buy it when its done? ;)
That's what Jeff Lange calls it in his thread about every colour that came on a Supra.
Well it's good to know that you feel that way about yourself. Too bad nobody agrees with you.

And Jake we will try to stay on topic from now on in your thread :snork_ham
IHI-RHC7 11-02-2005, 10:06 PM Actually, this is all pretty interesting. So if you want to go off on each other, it's ok by me. I just love all of these kick ass smileys! :moon:
I mean seriously, what can this possibly mean?!?! :beef:
Brewster: Thanks for the comments, I'm glad someone can see past joes darling powder blue, and recognize a nice 87. :respekt:
Just joking Joe, I really like your car, even with its way too shiny mkiv rims.
Ok, I'm done with the smileys
SP 7M 11-04-2005, 04:25 AM Jake-I know this is kind of a late response to the title of this thread, but you aren't what I'd classify as a "Duane wannabe." I know you didn't mean it literally, but your Supras don't exactly look the same. Yours looks just like it was used in Group A and Duane's looks like a run-of-the-mill Probe.;)

I hope you don't mean that. :moon:

What he meant was that his set-up is pretty much like mine. :crazy01:
Duane
IHI-RHC7 11-04-2005, 01:27 PM No no, I'd have to agree with Craig 100% ;)
The funny thing is that I've been working on my motor, building it to my specs since before I ever saw Duanes car. Although Heidi did get the coilovers after he did... I purchased the turbo kit, thinking it could get me into mid 12 territory, and maybe break 500 hp. I had no idea the C7 would kick so much ass. We are contemplating just building a 4 " downpipe and installing the turbo kit on the current motor and keeping bost down around 1 bar. We should be able to get around 400 hp or so at that level with some good tuning.
What do you think Duane? Do you think the C7 would be as fun to drive as the stock turbo with only 15-16 psi? Or should we keep trying to blow up the stock turbo whilst we wait, and wait, and wait, for the rest of the built motor to come together?
Thoughts anyone? :eusa_shif
IHI-RHC7 12-01-2005, 11:40 AM New rims, anyone?

Hope you like.
Should have some more artistic shots soon.

Loki89t 12-01-2005, 02:54 PM Looking awesome, can't wait to see more pics of it.
IHI-RHC7 12-01-2005, 03:23 PM Thanks Loki, Something about Gunmetal on dark blue...

 .
SP 7M 12-01-2005, 11:02 PM The color combination does indeed flow. I just hope that gunmetal rims give you more traction.
IHI-RHC7 12-02-2005, 01:31 PM Haha, true Craig.
They're pretty fat 245's I've got traction in 3rd 4th and 5th for now.
It's pretty fun that mashing it in 2nd is enough to break them completely loose from a roll. ;)
SP 7M 12-04-2005, 06:54 PM I've actually done that in 2nd in my Supra-with 265s. They were cold, though.
IHI-RHC7 12-06-2005, 06:44 PM I got bored...

Loki89t 12-06-2005, 11:36 PM  as I said on SM, that is awesome!!!!
And damn, I need to get my windows tinted on my car.
7MGTESUPRAMAN 12-08-2005, 06:43 AM That doesn't look bad toyota should have made the mkiii 5 spoke rims in 17s
IHI-RHC7 12-08-2005, 10:48 AM They should have shrunk the wheelbase by 4 feet too. ;)
dizahl 12-08-2005, 09:46 PM They should have shrunk the wheelbase by 4 feet too. ;)
then they would look like a FC3
dizahl 12-08-2005, 09:47 PM i have the 5 spokes myself even though they are 2 different kinds
supramacist 03-31-2006, 11:41 PM Nice side shot. Really stealthy looking. Get some night vision goggles.
supramacist 04-02-2006, 12:27 AM You're right Joe......., I totally agree.
