well.. after working on this MKIV project for the past few weeks, ive gotten an opporunity to try my hand at pic cuts/sectioning. what happened is, that we have put a SP71GTQ-HO on this car. the catch is that the car currently has a GReddy 3-row. we arent upgrading the intercooler or pipes simply because people have put down 1000rwhp on a 3-row, and we are only looking for 900ish rwhp. the problem is that the 3-row piping goes thru the passenger fender. so, we need to devise a way to connected the down-ward discharging turbo to the fender pipe. the only way i can do that is to go 90* out of the compressor outlet and then immediately to a 45* and connect the 3" hotpipe to the 3-row fender pipe...

we bought a 36"x3"x0.065" aluminum tube stock. started cutting out pie cut sections and setting them up and together they make about 120* turn on about a 2" radius. if you think about that, that is a TIGHT radius for 3" pipe...considering a 1.5" radius would place the legs of the bend so close that they would touch eachother.

im having so much fun with these pie cuts, i think im going to do my T88 manifold and downpipe like this, same with my IC pipes. i think ill make the header and exhaust for my RX7 with this method too. its going to take alot of cutting and sanding, so i need to find a bandsaw or chop saw, but its so MADD tyte JDM yo!

i will try to take some pics for you guys to show what im working with.

anyone else try pie cuts or sectioning?

cuz i am Madd Tyte JDM...yo. im Just that cool/elite.

you get jaded when you deal w/ MKIV's i guess. ive got high expectations from the next 7M i build.. especially considering that a T88H is proven to make 4 figures ;)

thats how i roll...SON!

Same thing has happened to me, I hear people talking about making 400whp on their WRX and they talk about it like its John Force's drag car. I need to stop hanging out with Supra owners, or buy one :D The pie cuts that a friend and I did for this IC pipe were ok but since they were mild steel and the welder we has sucked at life it looked like shit :(

That sounds cool, I can't do it. Well I've never tried, but I would like to see some pics.

the welds sucked because the polarity was reversed for gas sheilded welding, not the gay flux core. it would have turned out alot better if we had known that before hand. i ordered a 90* 3" silicone elbow off ebay, i paid for it on the 4th. the bastard didnt ship it till the 11th... and its STILL not here yet. we are all getting excessivly pissed. the sectioned hot pipe is set up so that we dont need the elbow though, only a short straight coupler. however, we dont want to use it if the elbow shows up, so we havent welded it yet. its just this corkscrew lookin pipe with tape holding it together. my friend is gonna try to remember to bring his camera so i can take a few pics of it.
