Hey guys,

A company here in Sweden, wich mainly deals with turbos of all kinds, didnīt recommend using turbo blankets because of the material in the turbine housing will suffer. They recommended to use a heat shield instead.

Anyone who can confirm this or that they are wrong?

Turbo blankets tend to trap the heat inside. The thing that turbo companies are worried about is that the turbine housing will crack due to thermal stress when there is that much heat trapped inside the turbine housing.
In my opinion this is more of a problem for diesel engines that run at high load for extended periods of time, which allows for a lot of heat to be trapped. For automotive applications, the turbo is usually not at full load for that long, so I dont know how much of a problem it would be.

Diesel's run WAY lower EGT I beleive though.

Neway I have one (~ 1 year) and have had no issues with it at all. It made a HUGE difference in under hood temps for me.
