Hey,

That wasn't spam. My email was an advertisement to Supra owners. :)

Seriously, this forum really does kick ass. I said "seriously" because I'm sarcastic 95% (give or take) of the time.

Back to being sarcastic...

yeah, thanks for the headsup. I'm sure i used to come here, but after i had decided to sell my MK III , i was just not in the mood anymore. But finally i refused to sell it !! I had 5 people coming to see it and i either asked way too much or talked them out of buying it..haha.
I;m rebuilding it this winter.. yay.
So i'll be in here !

Latest projects? Guys... I have too many projects.
Ok let's type something. I'll write this very slow as I know most of you cannot read my bad english that fast :snork_tan
I own two project cars. One is an MA60 (mk2 supra) which I converted to solid axle. We choose for the 8 inch hilux axle but that's just plain stupid, we should have gone with a Ford 9-inch but hey, we all make mistakes.
We've cut away the IRS:
http://www.supras.nl/iB_html/uploads/post-2-86153-bjorn25.JPG
and we installed the hilux solid axle:
http://www.supras.nl/iB_html/uploads/post-2-75099-asonderauto.jpg
When we started we thought of installing a twin charged stock bottom end 2jz in the car, but playing a lot with the AEM learned us we can two-step any turbo, so we will build a special block for this car with our in-house developed stroker kit:
http://www.supras.nl/iB_html/uploads/post-2-87662-stroker_013.jpg
We're thinking of getting the GT47 turbo in there. but currently I don't have much time.

Ok my mk3 will get the compound boost vvti setup. Also we converted to 6 speed (getrag mkIV tranny) and TRD 3.2 diff (downpayment made). Here is my car with my girlfriends supra (the yellow one is driven by women yes):
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a80/nienkeg/Tweety/auto002.jpg
Here is the setup that should go in there. I will get a GT40R with the mercedes supercharger most likely:
http://www.supras.nl/iB_html/uploads/post-2-42751-mini_blokzij.JPG
The kit pictured doesn't fit in the small mk3 enginebay (it is designed for the mkIV but fits the mk2 as well) so I went with a cast manifold for the turbo. I don't like the 'old' turbonetics manifold so I designed my own cast manifold with a bigger wastegate hole and some extra design improvements:
http://www.supras.nl/arnout/supras.nl%20manifold/rotatingkit.gif

I can only work on my own cars when we are 'stuck' with customers' cars. Here are some highlights from the cars we built in my shop in the Netherlands:

Flavio - JE pistons, Pauter Rods, SP67, Supras.nl manifold, 850cc, AEM

Markus - 67 turbo, AEM, 720, Supras.nl manifold, 264, veilside

Spewie - ST205, 800cc, AEM, GT28R

FastFrankie - 61, 650cc, AEM, Rotora

ok midnight, bedtime guys. Gotta be in the shop tomorrow. We're working on an S13 with SR20 conversion and AEM. Did I already say we all love the AEM? :-)

quite a few projects going on i see... im sort of in the same boat. its frustrating trying to spread effort thin across so many projects.

on the twin charge project, are you using an M62 eaton blower?

Arnout

The charger used is from an SLK230 (Mercedes). I think it's an Eaton 62 yes.

Kind-of cool you used the Hilux rear end instead of Ford. Keeping it Toyota is nice :)

that is great man. that torque curve has to start off at a plateau of at least 200tq and go from there. 2 of my friends have clutchless eaton M62's on their SVT foci and their torque curve was 180ish from start to stop. i dont really like roots style blowers, but their torque curves are awesome.

Hello Arnout and welcome :)

Busy as usual I guess, however that 3.2 differential you are talking about is that for the stock Mk III housing?

I'm desperately looking for a ratio in the neighbourhood of 3.0 and 3.2 in order to make my new TH400 setup street able - any info would be most helpful

Yes but sometimes we have to refrain from tunnel-vision and choose what's best. The Ford has a lot more to choose from (ratios, lockers etc) and we still went Toyota. Stupid us this time!

Karsten,
Yes the 3.2 diff I have is for the mkIII housing. Actually it's a two fold setup. It's a 3.2 ratio (32/10) AND it's a TRD LSD. This is seperate obviously cause you can install a TRD diff in your stock 3.909 ring pinion setup. The TRD setup I have is even stronger than the regular TRD LSD I was told.
I asked the guy if he could source more 3.2 diffs and this was the only one he had unfortunately. The unit came from a Japanese Turbo A setup where the 3.2 was an option used for racing or something.
The only thing I can arrange for you Karsten, is a special ring-pinion setup with a 3.07 ratio. That's even better for the TH-400 setup I think. It's pretty expensive, but hey, better expensive than not available at all. This 3.07 does fit your stock rear end with some slight modifications. You can choose what diff you will fit (TRD, stock LSD or torsen or maybe a locker) yourself.

Also on the TH-400; my mk2 will get a TH-350 tranny (lighter and less rotational mass). I made a special tranny adapter so you can bolt the A340 bellhousing to the GM transmission:

Thanks for the info Anout, I will contact you by other means regarding that 3.07 gearing.

If you take a look at: http://www.thesupraforums.com/showthread.php?t=566
You can see how we took care of mating the TH400 to the 7M - we simply welded the stock 340 bellhousing directly to the TH400 box so no adapter plate, its a direct bolt on :-)

Karsten

Karsten,

The TH-350 and TH-400 housings are known to crack with a lot of torque. Welding the bellhouse to the tranny housing is not a very clever idea. It's better to bolt down the bellhousing (and thus the engine) to the bolts from the oil pump, like the ultrabell housing.

I have never heard about that problem before and there are quite a few using the TH400 in the local drag race community. This TH400 have already seen more abuse than most boxes will see in their entire lifetime and absolutely no sign of cracking so far. Well, I guess it is "learning by doing" - does it crack I will find another housing and buy one of your EXPENSIVE adapters :eusa_ange

Read for yourself:

TH-400 cracked housing (http://www.google.nl/search?hl=nl&q=TH-400+cracked+housing&meta=)

My adapters are not expensive. I'll send you a postcard when your A/T expodes because of a cracked housing.

Hello Arnout

You know I LOVE postcards :hihi:

I can see from your link that there is indeed a problem, however this gearbox is still fine after lots of abuse - We either have not enough torque or have actually done something right!

BTW I could simply make a ring that mates to the oil pump bolts and then weld it on the inside of the housing - By this the bellhousing should be very very strong.

Karsten

Yeps postcards are cool. I received a few when I had my leg in plaster. I prefer to send out 'get well soon' postcards than 'our depest sympathy'.

yes. very strong. But if the tranny brakes you need a grinder to undo the bolts. Not really handy, is it :)

Well, if this auto grenade that will be the smallest problem I guess ;)

As a matter of fact I might do this just to make sure that the housing will not crack. Thanks for the hint!

BTW what did you do to that leg - don't tell it happened a work ;)

hints, no problem.
My leg? I fell down the last five steps of the stairs in the shop. So yes, it happened at work.
