i just want some feedback from the guys who have gone na-t. i'm mainly curious if you guys felt going that route was worth it or not?

Since you're from Texas and probably not worried about nazi smog tests, I'd go the NA-T route. It'll pass the sniffer if you have cats. In California, we also have a visual test, where many aftermarket parts must be CARB certified.. and there are no CARB certified NA-T kits :( | ||
