goddamn, thats just ridiculous. rednecks have a tendancy to go overboard w/ themes... like chrome. ive seen so many older cars at the shows that have EVERY goddamn thing chromed. its like... for ****'s sake, that must have taken quite a bit of creativity and imagination to buy EVERY chromed piece from JEG's/Year One. wft mate!

either way, that car is well done and i can appreciate the sheer amount of labor that had to go into that thing.. bad design or not.

I love those Trans Am's, my Dad had a '80 Turbo Pace Car T/A and then had to sell it. Now he's got a '78 Gold Edition T/A. If I would of had the money I would have a '80 T/A with a 455 with a 4-speed in it, but I couldn't come up with the money when it was for sale

He found it in a rasberry bush, it had been in there for 10 years. So far he has had the motor rebuilt, and the interior had been re-done. It really only needs paint and it'll look like this one.

By the way that is a nice set up with 8 turbos, I bet somebody had a nice lil headache when they were finished with that project

yeah, i have a soft spot for trans ams. my dad bought one new back in 86, drove it right off the lot. we still have it today, with about 147k miles, its all original, except for maintenance stuffs and the fresh paint and body on it. it was originally sebring silver, but i had it redone in the same silver that was available on the Vipers.

my 79 is identical to the black TA launching at the track, in the last pic... but i had mine repainted Dark Caribe Green that was available on the 97-98 Trans Ams. its got camel tan "velour" interior. it was a stripper model; 403/TH350 with no options. manual everything, AM/FM radio, WS4 handling package and 15x8" snowflakes, not the skinny 7" flakes that dont have the lip, like that gold one above. its sitting in a storage unit in ohio with a FRESH motor in it, never been started. id like to go home and finish the car and drive it down here to florida.. but i have so many cars already and so little room to store them. :( ive had my trans am since 96 too. long-term owner... oh, and theres only 101k on the entire car.

IIRC, it may have been available in other colors. but i do beleive you are talking about the white trans am w/ the blue stripe down the center, right? and at the front of the stripe, there was a small bird?

see, heres one, same idea, but different colors

heres what i was thinking of, but this is a 70

OMG, this bitch is sexy! well, i dont like the copper, or the "turbine" wheels. this car would be made w/ the 15x8 snowflakes and w/o the striping package. there's my dash! damn, i miss that.

Yeah that's it. I want one in red though. I also want a 77 bandit ta.

flubyux2
10-19-2005, 01:26 AM
a 77 bandit shouldnt be too hard to come by... there were more bandit edition TA's, 77-81 than Non-bandit TA's. my car is a "rarity" because its NOT a bandit-edition unit. but, there were 97,xxx Firebirds made in 79 anyways... so they arent really rare by any means.

a red 71 would be pretty sweet... i dont recall seeing many of them at all. all the ones i see in person are the white/blue color scheme.

Loki89t
10-19-2005, 01:29 PM
Those TA's are teh hotness. My Dad's gold edition they only made 1500 of them with the 400/4-speed, like what he's got. It's also got stupidly low miles on it, I wanna say under it's under 50k miles, but I can't remember right now. When we pulled it out of the rasberry bush the last time it had been insured was '91 and he got it in '01.

What I want is a '77-81 TA with the t-top and then I'm going to do that early front end on it. Cause I love the Formula hood with the 2 scoops and the earlier front, but want a t-top car :D or I'll just get a '77-78 cause the beak front owns your face Flubby.

flubyux2
10-19-2005, 02:14 PM
yeah, i would have liked to have Ttops on my 79... but, the unibody flexes too much as it is. my car makes too much torque now w/ the hardtop. where the b pillar meets the roof on the driverside, there is a 1" long crack forming. it starts from the top corner of the driver window and goes back. im going to have to weld in subframe connectors or something. i dont want it to get worse.

for some reason, the 77-78 front ends/grills never did it for me. i prefer 76 and earlier or 79-81 front end... but 79 was the last year for the 6.6's. 80+ cars only had 350's as the biggest motor. i wish i could have found a pontiac 400/4speed manual car, but they are soo goddamn rare in 79. just about every 6.6L car in 79 was the Olds 403/TH350, like my car.

i would kill for a 69 Trans Am. i want a 69, to go with my 79, and i planned on getting an 89 and doing a twin turbo 350, and some day, picking up the 30th anniv 99 TA. those were my dreams. course, i would take anyting with a Ram Air IV.
