: Congratulations John Sheppard
Saad Saad 10-03-2005, 12:35 AM Johns family has increased by one lovely girl and he just broke the 8 second barrier with his manually shifted Talon, 7.97@179mph. This makes him the fastest manual car in the world, that I know of:) Great job John and tell the wife congrats:)
ChrisB 10-03-2005, 12:41 AM Wow... that's awesome. Congrats to him.
apx632 10-03-2005, 12:58 AM that dog box he installed has worked out real well for him. didn't know about the lil girl..congrats to him on that as well. now all we need is the vid of the run. :D
1BADSUPRA 10-03-2005, 06:42 AM Johns Trans still requires him to lift to shift, the main benefit is it shifts consistantly at high rpm! Truely an amazing feat for an AWD clutch assisted car. I believe we will be able to get the car to go mid 7's before too long. The tune is still conservative, and there is more left in it! In my opinion John's car is the most impressive car at the track these days. He is a one man show (with a couple of buddies that come out to help change driveline parts if they break). No major sponsors, just him! With the new born girl, John says this is one of the best weeks of his life! CONGRATULATIONS...no one deserves it more!

i didn't realize he still has to lift to slam the gears. sounded like his foot was in the throttle on the 8.1 run..and the shifts were unbelievably quick and crisp. that's what i get for assuming though. :(

I finally agree with Jason!!! Congrats to John and his family!!!!
That is truly amazing. I keep thinking he's reached the limits of the car and then he goes and shaves another two tenths...incredible. No kidding on the great week with the birth of his child as well

It seems like about 20 years:) But I think its closer to 10.
KIMBER FOUR FIVE 10-03-2005, 01:03 PM Wow!!!! Mucho time. Thanks for the quick reply. Maybe you will have his luck at SILV this year. It seems that, in the world of Import Drag Racing, the 2 of you are long overdue in the luck department.
apx632 10-04-2005, 12:26 AM here's an in car view that was posted on another forum. pretty awesome. can't wait to see how far he truly can take this car with that dog box. amazing how much of a difference it made.

Next year....I expect him to go faster next weekend!:):)
Thanks guys, Now all we need is some keyboard warriors in here to belittle my hard work :moon:
Shep
Jason like I said ,it will only hurt me for next year if I go faster.

at the rate ur going shep you'll have to eventually make ur car a tube chassis. if i'm not mistaken isn't that required if u run like 7.5's or better? be something to see when a stock body car runs that fast.

Your on the good Supraforums now...I doubt you'll have that problem.

No, he is good to run 7.50's with his current safety equipment. I think it's already something to see it go 7.97....isn't it???
I looked at the 25.5 specs yesterday and wow. They are serious about that. I was grandfathered in right before the rule change so in current rules my car is only good for 8.5 but the sticker is good for another year.
btw most of the people that I wanted there when I ran my first 7 were there and Jason you were on the top of the list of people I wanted to be there to see it. Still wonder what it would have ran if you had your way with the last change :) Ordered my new plates already 7 SEC AWD somebody already has SEVENS

i agree with you 100% its truly badass to see..and to know that there is more left in the car is kinda scary. its guys like john..and anyone in general who races with that kind of power and a manual are why i got into it. i can only hope i can get up to the skill level of a lot of guys on these forums and also go even half as fast down the 1320.
Administrator 10-11-2005, 04:16 PM Yea.. you won't have a problem here with keyboard warriors and e-thugs.
ma71supraturbo 10-11-2005, 04:25 PM Wow, welcome aboard John Sheppard! Definitely an honor to have you here
silvr94r2 10-11-2005, 06:00 PM Congrats John on the times!!! You are definetly one of the guys that'll be talked about many years down the road. A real pioneer in the sport compact scene!
