Product: Kaaz 2-way LSD

Place Purchased: Horsepowerfreaks (w00t)

Price Paid: <$900

Application: (86.5-92) USDM Supras

Highlights: Strong engagement under acceleration and deceleration

Caveats: A little noisy during tight turning in parking lots

Installation Difficulty (1-10, 10 being difficult): I wussed out and brought the LSD and pumpkin to a gear shop and had them replace the bearings and install it.

Rating (1-10, 10 being best): 9

Additional Comments: If I had it to do again, I would get the 1.5-way because my car sees roadcourse and drift duty. The 2-way is a bit too strong for road course use (prone to understeering on corner entrants in dry, oversteer when wet)

how do you compare it to the stock LSD

under normal driving you can't tell whether you have a stock LSD or not. With the kaaz, it makes itself apparent. I guess its slightly less civil (noticable at speeds under 10mph). But it is also much more consistant and reliable -- you can count on it acting the same every time. When the stock LSD starts to wear, you don't even know whether it will behave as you expect... Stock LSD's would give me 4 good months, and hang on for another 2 before being worthless. The Kaaz will probably go well over a year (and it is rebuildable).

I think I asked you this same question on another thread, but I haven't come across it recently. What made you go for Kaaz instead of Cusco or TRD?

I didn't know about the TRD selectable at the time, and the Kaaz is cheaper and more readily available than the regular TRD. The regular TRD, according to rumor, is actually made by Kaaz

So what's your take on Cusco?

Cusco is very good, they're just generally not very readily available in the US. The price here is also on the higher side (but I suspect you could do well purchasing one while in Japan)
