Product: HKS Hipermax II Coilovers

Place Purchased: Forum Member

Price Paid: Traded Parts

Application: (86.5-92) Supra

Highlights: Upper Pillowball Mounts, Nitrogen Gas-charged dampers, 30-point adjustable dampers, smooth-riding progressive springs

Caveats: Ride height is not adjustable without changing spring preload, and there is no brake-line tabs like the stock struts. The steel bodies also started to develop minor surface rust after 6 months of coastal driving.

Installation Difficulty (1-10, 10 being difficult): 3 -- Easier than installing just lowering springs -- requires alignment afterwards

Rating (1-10, 10 being best): 8

Additional Comments: I purchased these under the impression they were a race-type coilover. They're not, they're a plush street coilover and HKS markets them that way (lesson learned). They ride almost identical to stock springs, but can be set lower. The progressive springs give a sporty ride under steady-state cornering, but they aren't as crisp as linear springs for slalom-type driving.
