First of all im going to say it out right, i don't know the codes for the transmissions attached to the 7M-GE, 1JZ, 2JZ. But, I really would like to get some input on my problem.

I am currently building a 2JZ-GE and want to put it into an mkiii. My question is whether or not to get the 6 speed associated with the 2JZ or stick the 5 speed associated with what will most likely a 7M series engine.

Anyone know of any pros or cons with any transmission that I would maybe have.

BTW i would prefer a six speed but the more money in my wallet the better.

Well the 6 speed 2jZ came out i believe 93-94 and then stop then but it back it the 97-98 so finding a use 6 speed will be hard but keep it 6 speed

6 speed.

why because on the bypass or interstate or highway.
I always reach to shift into 5th cause it feels like 4th.
And i'm already there.

Not much top end on these mkiii's and I own a 91.
They're geared for torque throughout each gear though.

Yeah, thats what i thought. Im driving a 5 speed right now (not a supra) and it just doesn't feel right on the highway, but i thought the gearing might have a little more top end speed on the supra.

to my knowledge the tranny from the MKIII the r154 wont mount up to a 2jz i could be wrong. but from what i know they are different. and besides if you dont do the 6 speed now you are gonna wish you had later. trust me on this one. 6 speed is alot better than a 5 speed which in turn is alot better than a 4 speed. it gives you more control of RPM's at different speeds and makes driving more fun. in my opinion. also more performance. and the 6 speed is built to withstand more power. its a stronger built tranny.
