I'll be doing one soon, I've decided my 10s aren't good enough for what I want and I'll be purchasing some 12s and making a special box so that they fit between the strut towers...reason being so I don't have to remove my speakers to lift the wood floor in the back there, and more space for tools n stuff.
The box may end up being in a weird triangle config, don't know it's going to work yet exactly, haven't even started look for speakers /amp yet...
I'll post pics when I'm done and any advice is appreciated

I'm audio retarded, you'll have to dumb it down a notch for me :D

mainly, how much for 2?
I'm not looking for competition stereo quality, just something to produce decent sound in a mkII. My $200 10s and amp were doing very well until I decided I needed more vocals than what they could handle.

all you will need is just one thats the 750RMS W one for about $400, hook it up to a 800W amp, and well, shit will hit hard as hell. providing you have the right size box

(# Rec. Sealed Box Dims: 0.88 - 2.00 cu.ft.
# Rec. Ported Box Dims: 1.75 - 3.25 cu.ft.)

Looks good.

I have a custom build box, with 2 12'' clarion pro 1000 watts each, the back still looks like factory stock, everything is hidden under the back carpet.

Someone to sit in your car and watch it for you

I Like it, you should get a digital capacitor, and get a dvd player in dash (im not too big on computers in car)

i never find extra money for stereo stuff... i have a good set of speakers and head unit and thats all i need. id rather use the money in the engine or restoration parts.

Kicker S8 L54 in a custom fiberglass/MDF enclosure. Targa stores perfectly, and the spare tire and tools are still intact. I even retained use of the stock child seat tether points, which are on either side of the stock sub.

HTH,

Ken

wow thats pretty slick. you do it yourself?

KBlake

Thanks. No-One of the local stereo shops has a guy who is a real wizard with sub enclosures and fiberglass. Check around with a few of your local shops, I bet it wouldn't be too hard to find someone who could duplicate it. He charged me $500, which included the enclosure, the driver, and installation. He carpeted the enclosure black, to match the interior.

hey kblake would a truck box fit?

KBlake
10-18-2005, 07:12 PM
Not in the stock location, but I'm sure you could get one back there somewhere. I wanted something that looked and fit like it was OEM.

Syris
10-18-2005, 07:15 PM
what do you mean not in the stock location? im not talking like replacing any stock placement ones. Just like where you have the kick sitting at would a truck box and sub fit right there behind the targa top in front of it

KBlake

You are only seeing one-half of my enclosure in that picture. It goes down below floor level, like the stock sub enclosure, and fills in the space normally occupied by it.

I don't know if a truck box will fit with the roof in there, I didn't try it. Here is a picture of my roof stowed after the sub was installed:

http://www.soundkwest.com/supra/images/targastored.jpg

I know a truck box won't fit between the seat and the roof, but it might fit under the roof, or you might be able to remove the stock enclosure and fit part of the truck box down in the resulting hole, allowing the roof to clear the part that sticks up.

Best regards,

Ken

i would have to disagree. audiobahn is not a good choice. audiobahn has turned into a "bling bling" company. you pay for the name and the chrome. the sound is eh, ok. but def. not worth the price.

memphis makes some real nice spl subs. if you are going for sq, elemental designs is a good choice. they have great sq and spl.

kv are great sq and ov's are great spl.

i saw a vid of a guy with (4) 6" 7kv.2 hitting 136 dB!!!

definitely my favorite brand. and if you cant afford there prices (which are cheap compared to what you are getting) you can email them. they are a small company and they will try to work with you on what you need.

heres the link to their site.
