I want to swap 6sp tranny to my 97 TT auto....where can i get a shop to do it(around Socal)? how much will it be? SP is too expensive for me.
Don't tell me to sell it and get another one...as we all know...97 TT 6sp is pretty expensive..
thanks.

I really don't know SoCal shops, but I'll try to get ChrisB (owner of HPF and this forum) to reply in this thread with his input. I gotta believe he will know where to steer you on this.
In case you're interested ...just last week someone else asked me about parts and info on a tranny swap, so I hunted around and found this pretty good write up which includes parts and prices from Curt Aigner of Elmhurst Toyota: http://i-supra.com/6/ubb.x?m=2646015371&a=tpc&cdra=Y&s=154607117&f=537605458

There are a few things you'll need. shifter parts, drive shaft, and if you want to do everything, change the rear end gears. You'll also need clutch pedal, linkage, clutch slave cylinder, clutch master cylinder and don't forget the fork that goes in the 6 speed tranny.
I'm sure you could get most shops to do this. The ones that have experience with Supras will do a better job.
Chris.

thank you for the info, but i don't know which shop around Socal has better experience with Supra. I tried SP engineering, seems like they don't really want to talk to me.
Can you recomend some shop around Socal for me? thank you very much.

Dude you live in Riverside. Pick up the phone and find a shop that has supra experience. I'm interested in your write up on this. It's going to cost loads of cash and it'll be like the car is finally all that it should be.
I mean you're basically in socal there has to be as many speed shops as there are liquor stores in the Long Beach/ GardenGrove area. They are everywhere over by signal hill. I used to roll a nissan at the time and didn't need them. But I saw loads of them.
Good Luck with this. I would like to see you do it yourself if you thought it possible. You learn how to do it then open a shop that does that specialty work.

There are too many shops in Socal...that's the problem...every shop i called said they can do it...but no one actually "Done" it before...that's why i want to ask around if there's a shop in Socal which recomended by a real Supra owner.
I am still trying to ask my friend finding parts from Japan(he imports parts every month),it will be nice if i can do it at my home.
i will keep this posting as it goes...(the best is...find a shop...pay them...and enjoy the car)...that will save me lots of time.
