Recently I've been considering getting the HPF bronze clutch disc to upgrade my single disc TRD clutch...

I've spoken with one of the HPF sales person and it was confirmed that I was able to use the HPF bronze disc with my TRD pressure plate.

However, on the HPF's online store, it had a sprung version and an unsprung version. It mentioned that if I was on an OEM Toyota flywheel, I must use the unsprung HPF bronze disc.

I am looking for the most streetability out of this clutch and I do not plan to make 9 sec passes... LOL I was wondering if I would be able to use a sprung HPF bronze disc with the factory OEM flywheel? What would be the drawbacks, and what was the reasoning behind using the unsprung disc with the OEM flywheel?

Wouldn't the sprung disc + OEM flywheel offer way better streetability?

Thanks :)

I have ordered tons of parts from HPF.

I use Dave at ext. 103. I use him because he explains things like this to me and sends me the right parts. All I know about clutches are the basics.

It would seem that if you want to use the unsprung, you may want to look into getting a racing flywheel. That stock flywheel weighs about 12 lbs.

A racing fly wheel will make your rpm rev more quickley. I would trust those guys to know what they are talking about. Just make sure that they know wich engine you have.

Another Clutch HPF can sell you is the centerforce Dual friction. I have run big twins @ 1.2 bar with this clutch. As long as you forget the 1/4 mile hard standing starts it will last for ages. Feels stock and it wont add rattles.

The stock flywheel already has dampening in it. You won't want to run a disk with dampening on a flywheel with dampening as it can cause a disk to fail prematurely. I've seen people run it like this, but I don't recommend it.

Take care,
Chris.
