Wat is up, I'm obviously new here, and I have a question about a 94' N/A supra, it's on sale for 14k w/ 87k miles, auto and the driver side is on the right. My question is if i get it and do a engine and transmission swap, will is be the same as doing a swap on a left handed supra?
Thanks guys.
Jezer

Just make sure you get an RHD engine and components.
The engine will be basically the same but there will be differences.

Why swap an engine with under 100k on it???

well If I get it it's going to be my dailyy driver, but later on I'm probley going to want to do a 2JZ-GTE engine swap. But then again what is the most HP you have seen on a N/A?

You're a speed freak man.

The 2jz-ge is plenty of ponies, but I feel ya.

Try keeping it in tires for a while, lol.

$14k for an 87k mile NA is not a great deal so why not just keep looking for a LHD one? ...unless you just want the RHD for some reason.

well RHD would be pretty cool....if a I bought a supra modified, does the price depend on how much was put in it? I'm also seeing alot of supras on sale for 29K or more with more than 100K on it, I know that the engine is reliable (depend on how well it was kept), but is that asking too much?
Thanks,
Jezer

For that kind of money find a tight ass'd tight mkIII with a 7mgte.
Spend the rest on making it yours.

Unless you like disco music :rock_band

First and foremost like supramacist said, if you do check out a MkIV, test your favorite disco CD in the player to make sure it works and sounds good ;)

Price is what the buyer is asking which may or may not be realistic and may be way over what the car is worth. If you don't want to get ripped off, you must get familiar with true "value" of something before you buy it.

If buying a modified Supra or any moded car, of course the value depends on what was put into it and the quality of the work, and finally what it's worth to you.

A turbo MkIV with over 100k miles for $29k would have to be something well above average to be worth that much; a normal good condition turbo MkIV 6sp with 100k miles would be worth maybe $25k and I've even seen them recently go for a little less, an auto tranny car is usually worth somewhat less. But lots of other details come into the equation so these are just general guidelines. Plus, I'm talking about actual factory turbo based MkIV's not an NA converted to NA-T which would be worth substantially less.

The RHD factor brings up the question if it's a JDM Supra or a USDM ...so that again factors into the value to most people. To me, a JDM Supra would always be worth less than the otherwise same USDM car.

This disco ribbing only works when you don't like it Nick.

I know you think it stinks no matter how many flowers you try to cover it with. LOL

MKIII's are alot easier to come by than the MKIV's. And alot less expensive.

So you can get a nice clean 3rd gen and fix or rebuild it yourself and still have cheese left in the bank.

I'll have to ask the actual real official authorities if I can do that ...but I'll recommend you since it would be good to have another mod around who actually spends some time here.

Btw, the pay is great so get ready to spend some of your newfound big bucks on projects, plus good benefits package, paid healthcare, 401k, etc. and discounted parts ...did I forget any other lies?

Ya I know it's a non paying gig. But it would still be cool. Dizahl never even comes here anymore. I speak to him on the phone all of the time he has found a MO. specific forum he has been using.

He's also about to start a gig at daimler chrysler.

Dude I totally spoke to Brett Michaels of Poison last night on my phone.
He was playing the bar my lil bro works at in arkansas so my brother had him call me. I couldn't believe it. Pretty cool.

If the MKIV followed the MKIII close enough the engine harness will be different enough that swapping in a full USDM 2JZ-GTE just won't happen. On the other hand, I'm a big fan of working with what I've got. The 2JZ is alot easier to go N/A-T with than the 7M. Take the existing engine and so long as it's not in poor shape build it.
