sup everybody, i'm new to this forum but not new to supra's. I am also on supramania, supraforums, mkIIItech, and a couple others. Figured I might as well be on all the forums so i can absorb as much as i can. I've got a MK3 turbo targa top that i'm in the process of building. I've already learned a lot from the other forums (specially from Duane a.k.a. upgradedsupra... thanks man) but i figure you can never stop learning.

Welcome. Post some pics when you can.

If you've learned a lot maybe you can share what you know if somebody here needs it. I know some about MKIV's but very very little about MkIII's.

Nick knows Disco is what we have truely discovered. Sorry Nick, lol.
YA man your car sounds like the cats a$$, hook us up with some pics.

It sounds like you have the tech forums covered, this will be the one you come to for relaxation and goofing off but you can ask whatever you need to some one here usually knows something
about something.

Welcome.

I was in a disco mood last night so I cranked up my old turntable (I actually do have a pretty cool VPI turntable that I love) and played some records (for you more recently born humanoids, these are large, usually black, thin slabs of plastic with lots of little grooves in them) by Barry White doing "Love's Theme" and then Hues Corp. doing "Rock the Boat" which got me jumping up to do Van McCoy's "The Hustle" and then into old favorites by Gloria Gaynor and Donna Summer. I topped it off with Village People doing YMCA ...my favorite excercise is doing those letters sort of like jumping jacks, and I always were tight jockey shorts and nothing else while doing it, pics to follow shortly. I looked in my attic and luckily I still have my polyester doubleknit leisure suit though it's a tad tight around the middle now adays ...need to do more disco to stay in shape.

Hey diz,
I'll tell you what, I'm apparently in a lot better shape than poor old Ozzy, though he probably abused his body even worse than I did. You and supramacist will be lucky to have even half as much life in you when you're my age. And don't be deleting any "member" part of me. Although I already have all the children I could want, my member is still one of my favorite parts. Adreniline and testosterone are powerful chemicals that get pumped into high gear when you drive near the limits ...hopefully on a roadcourse most of the time so you don't jeapordize innocent lives.

Records where the primo musical reproduction means for most of my life, so being a gadget freak like a lot of us, I ended up with a well above average turntable, and in my opinion it is only recently and on only the most advanced disc players that the sound of some CD's compares favorably to a good record. The imaging and detail and depth in the soundfield of records is hard to beat. Of course my cartridge and tonearm are probaby worth more than most complete stereo systems, and I got a decent system to back it up. Hey, get this!--my pre-amp has tubes in it!!! and I don't mean the kind of tubes like in some tires. My first car ('67 XKE) had a Motorola 8-track deck in it and of course I had a bunch of tapes for it, I still have that Motorola deck in my garage but no tapes for it.

I'm gonna ask Chris about senior discounts at HPF ...why not, I get discounts at a lot of restaurants. And when I retire in a couple years and just do what I want to do for fun anytime I want, remind me to make fun of you guys still slaving away for many years.

ahahahhaaaaa, I'm glad you guys got a sense of humor too, that's one of the most important things in life.

I hope after all this thread jacking Duane still shows up pics of his wet dream Supra.

Pioneer used to make those gear driven turn tables. You must have stocked up on needles nick cause I never could find one for mine.

The 3 of us on the same thread is going to be our downfall cause you two are freaks.

To get the best isolation between the stylus tracking those teeny grooves and undulations and the motor/base/outside world, IMO a belt drive turntable is the best answer ...so my VPI turntable is belt drive http://www.vpiindustries.com/products.htm If you know where to look, there is really no problem getting a new stylus (needles) or cartridge or any other part, even the vacuum tubes available today are as good or I think even better than those from back in the heyday of tubes.

NO vinyl left.

All cd's.

Downloaded home made cd's mostly. I haven't bought music in 2 years.

As we see from the dramatic recent decline in CD sales, most people are doing what you are ...download the cuts you want and don't spend money for the whole album if you only want a couple songs. The music industry is tryinig to re-invent itself with these new rules so they can stay in business.

I do the same thing, for myself and my two boys; they like iTunes to get songs for their ipods. Now adays I only buy a few records in a whole year and those are from places specializing in the rare new and used ones, whatever music stores are still around obviously have no LP's.

I think there are more lp's out there than you think there are. It seems like I see them everywhere.

Vinyl can still be found. It was resurrected with the electronic dance music (EDM) scene. As a dj I have collected approximately 1,500+ albums since '97. I also spin cd's, but nothing beats the "feel" of vinyl. I have always used Technics SL1200-MKII direct drive turntables (industry standard for dj's). I've seen these things survive a beer spilled directly into them and needles/stylus replacements are easy to come by...but not cheap.

[3o#4?jnf0%94393+!39 m whew, back to normal.

Before I settled into my belt drive, I had a Technics SL1100 direct drive at home. I liked it, like you said - very reliable and durable. That was back in the early '70's ...1970's not 1870's

watch what you say, diz. I'm gonna come over and whack on your head with my cane and get my AARP boys to kick your ass ...if they can lift their legs that high?

To get back on topic, did any of you notice that the last phrase of supra racer 24's first post in this wonderful thread was "but i figure you can never stop learning" so here's an interesting lesson:

Did I ever tell you guys about the babe in downtown Philly who gives wicked good gum jobs? Now I will admit that I first heard of her over 40 years ago so by now she's probably pushing up daisies. But for a pretty fair price she would take out her teeth and gum you head to toe and everywhere in between. My buddy used to go to her as soon as he was paid and dump half his paycheck. I was more selective but we needn't go into more details right now ...errrr I forget things in my old age.

Nick 95 6sp
04-11-2007, 05:29 PM
I only experimented with said gum job once, and even though I was sort of up tight about the concept and it put a little damper on how cool I was acting, when it was all said and done it still felt good and at 20yo I didn't care about much more than that. Now my buddy was committed to her as a regular and he swore the pleasure of having her moist soft gums running up and down his body was one of the best he ever and he had a lot more experience than I did so he would know.

I hope we don't get temporarily banned for this crazy shit.
