just installed a new HKS SSQV. (no adjustment screw) and i'm getting compressor surge. everything was fine until i installed it. i use the vaccum from where the stock one used. any other vaccum lines i could substitute? it isn't a replica, i have stock twins with the MAF and it the bov is vented to the atmosphere. http://img74.imageshack.us/img74/5936/hksssqv003ow5.jpg (http://imageshack.us) http://img66.imageshack.us/img66/9906/hksssqv002ip2.jpg (http://imageshack.us) http://img455.imageshack.us/img455/9333/hksssqv005zm3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Under what specific conditions are you getting surge? For example, do you get it after being at steady part throttle and then let off all the way, or let off part way, or hard boosting then let off?

i've just tested without driving just messing with my throttle to check it out. does it at steady-off, and part way - off, full-off, i haven't tried letting if part way off. i can feel the pressure coming out of the blow of valve, the boost is set to stock but i haven't made any real boost numbers(no driving).

If you don't have a VPC or AEM, your car will want to stall as you slow down after being in the throttle. If you get bucking or anything like that your BOV is not opening. Pull the vacuum line off the BOV and when the engine is running you should hear a sucking sound. If you do, hook it back up and hold your hand over the end of the BOV and rev the throttle with the other hand. You should feel a small push of air out of the BOV. If that is the case, then everything is fine, and you will likely have to re-route the output back into the hole you plugged with the large black cap.
Take care,
Chris.

I never bothered with an aftermarket bov when I had stock twins. But if I did, I would just recirc the discharge of the bov back into the intake so I don't loose metered air (assuming you stay with MAF and not convert to MAP with a VPC, AEM, MAP ECU) ...otherwise IMO it's not a good thing to do just to "get a sound".
Now on my current small single setup I have an HKS SSQV bov and it never malfunctions or acts strange in any way.

i'm going to chech the pressure on the vaccum line. i've heard that i miight need to recirculate it, so that's probably the case. air does come out of the bov so ill just buy a recirculate kit. thanks
