i spun a bearing on my old motor so i decided to buy a jap spec motor. im using my american harness injectors cams and rps turbo kit. the car is getting fuel it has a spark but wont start. its only getting 2 codes which are primary and secondary o2 sensors but im told that these codes wont affect the car starting. any suggestions?

If it has fuel and spark then you're either lacking compression or you have the timing way out of wack (most likely the later).

If you changed the timing belt before putting in the J-spec engine, verify the cam timing is correct.

Good points. It's pretty easy to get the cam gears off. Do you get any backfire ever? Do you smell fuel out the exhaust pipe? Is your motor flooded? If so, pull out the plugs and crank the motor a bit. Then leave them out for awhile for the fuel to evaporate. There will still be some left in the intake but that will help. Check compression while you're at it.

the timing is perfect that was the first thing i checked and have checked it 2 or 3 times since i appreciate the fast replies though i was suppose to check the compression tonight but my friend forgot his tester at work i did crank the motor with the fuel pump fuse pulled to try and get all the fuel out and than i did get it to start for about 10-20 seconds the motor sounded really shitty the only way to keep it on was with it floored and it wouldnt go past 1k rpms

Check the cam gears. They might be off a tooth. That will make it run shitty. Also may be injecting too much fuel. Did you change injector sizes or add an SAFC, Emanage, AEM or any other fuel controller?

cam gears are perfect i was thinking that about the injectors im running stock injectors with the map ecu i tried loading a base map while it was running my wideband was going about 11.2-11.5 but it should still run shouldnt it the only other thing that i have though of to check was maybe bad plugs but im gonna check that tomorow when i do compression test

Plugs could be fouled but it should still idle. Sounds like too much fuel or cam gears off. It's very easy to get the cam gears off and it isn't always that easy to tell.

timing is definatly perfect i ahve checked so many times they are all perfectly lined up at 0 degrees i wish there was a good shop around here that i could pay to fix the car

maybe my map sensor got damaged im gonna try putting a resistor in tomorow

tried new map sensor new injectors still wont ****in start now this is really pissing me off

Try taking some more fuel out. If you can get it to run long enough to verify timing do that as well.

I may have missed it, but what are you using to tune this with? If its a piggyback setup, did you put all the USDM sensors on the J-spec engine?

im using just about everything from the us motor except knock sensors and cam sensors do u think these matter im pretty srue someone told me they are the same. im running the map ecu i apprecate the fast response if u have anymore info let me know

Try using the US cam sensor if you have it handy. They might be the same, but its worth a shot

i just found out they are the same i would try my us ones but i just sold the old cylinder head the other day the newest though in my head is that since the crank is 0 degrees at dead top and dead bottom and the cams only have 0 degrees at dead top maybe i have the block at dead bottom and the cams at dead top however i dout it

well i think i no what the problem is compression test goes as followed

cyl #1 - 55
cyl #2 - 70
cyl #3 - 150
cyl #4 - 90
cyl #5 - 155
cyl #6 - 155

i did the compression test 3 times just to confirm these numbers that would be the reason why it doesnt start right?

Ouch :( Yeah, I'd say that is a likely culprit

well at least i still have about 12 days left on my warntee so i should get a new motor i have to call the shop tomorow
