We could never do this before, but I'm going to do it now. We're going to vote on our favorite single disk clutch. I know many of you have different power levels, but for the power level you're at, vote for your favorite clutch. I'm only listing the main ones that people often buy from us.

Only vote for one you've personally used in your vehicle. Not based on what you've heard from others. I had to limit this vote to 10 selections.

ACT HD00
HPF Bronze
HPF Feramic
RPS Max w/Street disk
RPS Max w/6 pad disk
South Bend DXD (kevlar & metallic)
South Bend DXD (kevlar)
Spec (any stage)
Unorthodox
WOTM AZ Disk

Take care,
Chris.

Great post.

I haven't tried the HPF clutch, but a buddy has been using it and has hold very good in his car, I personly have tried the ACT and works great too.

Hey Chris

Plan on ordering the feramic from you. Any updates to the clutch or any known problems from the clutch. Looks like its the only contender for 900+hp so far. Will you be in tommorow or possibly wed? Tried calling other day, but got a hold of Ron I believe it was. Lastly, any specials going on for the feramic?

Thank you, and forum looks great.

Casey

Casey, thanks for the forum comments and we'd be glad to help you with the clutch. No known problems with the Feramic. Never had an issue other than the usual installation mistakes or PP bolts loosening. Be sure to use a stock flywheel, and a line-lock and give it a full 500 mile break-in. Be sure to tighten the pressure plate bolts down very tight. No specials on the Feramic. The material is very expensive and costs us a pretty penny for them. Keep in touch.

Cool sounds good, I assume to use factory tq specs for the bolts? Be giving you a call within a couple days.

No.. The pressure plate bolts need to be tighter than factory specs. I use a 12mm wrench and tighten them as tight as I can by hand. Just make sure you use the bolts with the # 7 on them, or the newer bolts with the 3 ticks on them. If you put a dust cover bolt in there, you will break it off. You can also put some thread locker on them, but I've never had to do this to keep them in.

Sounds good, one more things. Ive got a flywheel in the car with 35k miles on it. The clutch was replaced by the owner right before I bought it. I dont know if he did the fly wheel or not until I pull the tranny out. So I either have a new fly wheel or one with 35k on it. Do I still have to buy a new one, or should I buy a new one.

Thanks for your input again!

You can "dry turn" it, but most shops don't know what the heck that is. They say they do, but then they just go on and destroy your flywheel. Dry turning is tricky, you need to duct tape the crap out of the center section and have it turned on a lathe. I recommend simply getting a new stock flywheel. You should not reuse them with a new clutch disk or you will prematurely destroy the clutch.

I'm running the HPF Bronze since Oct 04 and love it. Granted I don't drag race, I only road race and autoX, but I have not had a reason to be disappointed.

HPF Feremic all the way. cannot say enough good things about this clutch for a single disk. Best one on the market by far for holding a ton of power and abuse at the dragstrip ...and very streetable. Have run MANY 9 sec passes on this clutch ...and i still believe the fastest one yet on it, 9.68 @ 152. That should speak for itself for how well it holds.
