: N/A vs. Turbo Block
87naSupra 05-01-2006, 04:34 PM Hey, now that i have a jdm N/A in my 87 now, can i build a turbo motor with my old block? I was gonna get the block machined and new bottom end with some Turbo pistons and hopefully boost it. Can it happen ? what would i have to change and what Not ?
aka kactabigun 05-02-2006, 10:58 AM Thats a big job, and i dont see what you'll gain by doing it.
Theres bound to be some sweet 7mgte engines out there for working on.
Good luck anyway. :beer2:
supramacist 05-04-2006, 01:47 PM I know that toyota wants 2,500 for a new 7mge block.
87naSupra 05-04-2006, 03:08 PM well i figured since i got the block i should do something with it. why not turbo that bytch and ride :D
supramacist 05-04-2006, 03:47 PM For sure....., go Dr. Frankenstien on it.
aka kactabigun 05-05-2006, 02:05 AM Go supercharged with that engine if its sweet :snork_tan
87naSupra 05-05-2006, 04:27 PM anybody got an old stock turbo and manifold laying around ? something worth a shyt so i can see if it would work ?
supramacist 05-05-2006, 09:42 PM not me....., sorry.
If it comes right down to it....., I honestly don't know if I would want the turbo. I mean obviously, who wouldn't right? I'm hoping to drive this car the way it is for another 3 years before something like this. I would consider going gte.
87naSupra 05-06-2006, 03:40 PM well i like the turbo's. i just want to drive my car and get up some stuff for a turbo motor while im driving it. so since i got the old block i can machine it and get parts and not have to worry about how im gonna get around.
supramacist 05-06-2006, 10:25 PM HEY! i feel ya. If I were in your shoes..., I would do same damn thing.
87naSupra 05-09-2006, 05:56 PM hows the best way to get the two top bolts out of the block to pull the motor. they are a bitch to get to and i dont want to F' up the starter either. any ideas ?
supramacist 05-09-2006, 06:31 PM I have no idea, nor do I plan to get one till I have to pull the engine.
87naSupra 05-10-2006, 08:38 PM im trying to get some lowering springs just for the front. got any ideas where i can find'um at ?
supramacist 05-10-2006, 10:35 PM As for those two bolts...., you may need to remove the starter.
My brother buys that type of thing from ebay all of the time.
87naSupra 05-11-2006, 04:48 PM i dont wanna drop the back of the car. i just wanna drop the front. i thought i might need to remove the starter but i didnt wanna till i got the engine out. o'well
87naSupra 05-11-2006, 04:50 PM anybody got a detailed pic of a turbo motor before being pulled from a car ? i figured i could turbo the jdm motor i got easier then the old one
boostin89 05-11-2006, 04:59 PM Hope this is what you wanted...

87naSupra 05-11-2006, 05:14 PM sweet , thanks boostin. i need to start collecting parts for my transformation
boostin89 05-11-2006, 07:12 PM are you gonna do a 5 speed conversion too? If so please give me pics and info for some steps along the way. Goodluck man, and i hope the pics helped. Keep me posted on the build.
supramacist 05-11-2006, 09:01 PM It looks nice, it just needs to bw cleaned up. armour all on all of that black and some castrol superclean.
boostin89 05-11-2006, 10:46 PM It looks nice, it just needs to bw cleaned up. armour all on all of that black and some castrol superclean.
Good advice man, I'll have to try that.
supramacist 05-12-2006, 03:44 AM I use old toothbrushes that my family is done with to scrub on my engine. Although I haven't done it lately. I didn't intend for that to sound harsh and it appears you didn't take it that way. I need to scrub mine as well. My dogs ate my water hose over the winter. Stupid bitches. I can't do a quarter of the things I normally do at home with a full functional hose.
boostin89 05-12-2006, 09:46 AM Nah, everyone need constructive criticism. It's what keeps forums interesting.
87naSupra 05-15-2006, 05:14 PM well, I pulled the oil pan off my old engine and the bearings are pretty well worn out. looks like the previous owner ran the engine low on oil alot. The crank isnt in that good of shape either. :middlefin It really needs alot of work. I can grab 2 of the 6 rods and move them more then half an inch. I did get the JDM engine in the car without too much work. Gonna finish it on weds and hopefully start it up and it runs right.
boostin89 05-15-2006, 05:35 PM thats awesome man, the engine install part at least. Good work.
