Time to start fixing up my 87 n/a. I just replaced the engine with a JDM motor and the problem followed to new engine . The engine when warm will cycle up and down between 600 and 800 rpm checked all the hoses they seem ok. replaced all the plugs. Cleaned out the throttle body. Any Ideas????
Any Thoughs would be great

DO you mean that it idles between 6/1000??? honest question. because that is cool if you did. Because everything is alright. Or it's not steady, but jumpy? Is it just like run'n 6 and then lunges to 1000 and goes back to 6 for a bit???? I presonally need more details.

Sorry I was away for the weekend.
No haven't solved it yet. It will go up and down between 600 and 1000 at idle. one sec it will be 1000 then drop to 800 then 1000 then 600. You never no.
It's not steady but jumpy.

I think you need a new set of plug wires. That's going to be the least expensive place to start.

Maybe....., if you have been working with the distributor cap and those plug wires you may have the wrong firing order. If not...., new plug wires.

Paul,
If that does the trick you may as well do plugs as well. I would probably go ngk platinums or iridiums.

Denso's are one of the best out there now, imo. Def recomend them, though they are a little pricey.

have you tried adjusting your idle? check your plugs and coil make sure you r getting enough juice, and check your injectors and fuel system.

I have replaced the plugs, fixed the trouble's coming up on the check engine light. The injectors are different one's that came with the new engine. I swapped out the ecu. I had replaced the wires before the engine swap (last year) didn't fix the idle.
So the problem followed the car not the engine, I haven't replaced the fuel filter I thought about that the other day. I have noticed or can feel that the engine at higher speeds 1500 to 2000 rpm a miss or something???

fuel filter or pump could cause that the fuel filter is kind of a bitch to replace it's above you differetial but i would try that,
