Why would we block off the egr valve? What would we gain performance wise?

Why did you ask that in this thread. :aiwebs_02

Because I went onto your cardomain.com and saw it done in this thread. I was asking a serious question. I ask because I wouldn't know what an egr valve does if I hadn't dealt with one before. I have never had a problem with something like the egr valve except for that 1 time, ever. So why block it off please?

P.S. I saw some really nice JDM work done as well. Their website does not do them justice.

Don't make fun of potatos, they're one of my favorite foods.
EGR valve can recycle exhaust into your intake; if you have some unburned hydrocarbons in your exhaust and they are mixed with the air & fuel in your intake, that will significantly increase the chances of detonation = bad for the engine. The exhaust fumes that the EGR passes to the intake are also hot ...not normally damaging but not good for performance. Since it is mostly an emissions thing, a lot of people like to block it off, disconnect it, etc.
