keep it. it makes the front blinkers look naked if you shave the mouldings. get new mouldings where you have bad ones, and at most color match them to the rest of the body. but I REALLY dont like them shaved.

i think if a guy faded the front fender and back trim and had none on the door that would be the shit.

To me, the molding are there for a reason...or a couple of reasons:

1) If someone opens up their door and hits your car, they act as a protector to the paint. So they help reduce chipping on the pantined metal.

2) If you had to fix something, there is a break up (the moldings) between the top and the bottom. With the moldings, it would be easier to fix a ding/dent/chip because you would only need to fix the smaller section and clear that. Having larger sections means that you will have to do fades that are sometimes not so easy to do (such as using pearls, or candies...although, noone has a true candy that I know of, but you get the point: It is harder to fix larger unbroken sections than smaller broken up ones.

Now to do it right, you would have to weld metal in to fill in the gaps where the moldings were.
To do that, you would be paying a lot of money for the whole project or would spend some time if doing it yourself.

There is a guy that did remove his moldings. To me, it is only worthwhile if you do it yourself to showcase your skills. Paying someone else to do it is not worth it at all, in my opinion.

As I once stated before on other threads: Some of this is opinion, and some is fact.

EDIT: to add below

I once had a door molding that was not really on there all that well.
When I drove to Florida, I found a place that sold me the door molding for like $15 in perfect shape. I would just buy the part from someone who lives in a 'rust free' state.
Or just buy the newer '89-92 type as an upgrade :)

He wasn't being a smart ass tony....., he was just being dizahl, and was open minded at that. I get you tony I did my time as a body man.., Painted a few cars and there are many body shops that i wouldn't let them paint my kids radioflyer.
